Daniel L. Bibb, Esq. October 31, 1954 – January 3, 2026
Daniel Lawrence Bibb, 71, of Harrington Park, New Jersey, died on January 3, 2026, surrounded in love by his family. He leaves behind his beloved wife Gabriele Higgins Bibb; daughter Devon Bibb and George Valdivia; and daughter Diana Bibb. His daughter Danielle Bibb predeceased him on January 7, 2024.
Dan will be greatly missed by his sisters Susan Markisz, and Barbara Carns; sister-in-law Ann Higgins; brother-in-law Michael Higgins; cousin Gwynne Barila; and aunt Antoinette Barila. Dan is survived by many nieces, nephews, friends, colleagues, and countless others whose lives he touched. His life was defined by an unwavering love of family and friends.
When he was younger, Dan attended Villanova University, where he was inducted into Phi Beta Kappa, the nation’s most prestigious academic honor society. He graduated with a Bachelor of Arts Degree, followed by a Masters of Arts Degree in Political Science. He went on to earn his Juris Doctor at Seton Hall Law School, and began a 40-year career in criminal litigation and trial practice at the state and federal level, both as a prosecutor and later as a defense attorney. In 1982, he joined the Manhattan District Attorney’s Office, as an Assistant District Attorney. Dan was a legendary prosecutor in the D.A.’s Office, earning the respect of fellow prosecutors, defense attorneys, judges, and the NYPD. He was one of only a dozen prosecutors to be named Senior Trial Counsel.
Dan met the love of his life, Gabriele, and they married in May 1988. They welcomed three daughters Danielle, Devon and Diana. Dan’s most cherished traditions included beach vacations with his family to the Outer Banks, North Carolina; sitting by the pool or at the beach; hosting celebrations for family and friends; and watching epic high fantasy adventure and action films. He was a devoted “Dead Head,” attending many Grateful Dead concerts. Dan loved attending dinners and gatherings, talking about old and cold cases, and reminiscing with friends at Forlini’s, Coogan’s, Uncle Jack’s and Villa Mosconi in Manhattan, and PJ Finnegan’s in Westwood. Dan’s was a life well-lived, and his absence leaves a lasting void for all who knew and loved him.
Visitation will be held on Sunday, January 18, 2026 from 2-6 PM at Pizzi Funeral Home, 120 Paris Avenue, Northvale, New Jersey. A memorial service will take place on Monday, January 19 at 11 AM at the Community Church of Harrington Park, 1 Spring Street, Harrington Park, New Jersey.

“The ultimate measure of a man is not where he stands in moments of comfort and convenience, but where he stands at times of challenge and controversy.” Dan embodied this quote from MLK. He was the epitome of a stand up guy. Loved talking law and life with him. I am blessed to have been his friend.
I am so very sorry to hear of Dan’s passing. I was happy to have spent so many holidays and celebrations at his table, always surrounded by the family and friends he loved so much. I’ll always cherish those memories.
Sending you all my love,
Carol Marcus
As a fairly young NYPD officer I was involved as first officer on scene for homicide
Dan Bibb assigned the case when the detectives arrested the man Dan treated this rookie with respect and courtesy It was a pleasure to work with him
A friendship developed and he always had time for me whenever I was in court
Took me to lunch several times Shared life stories and current cases
He spoke to me in detail about his decision to leave the DA office
I always was in awe of a man of his integrity and intelligence In the last few years his comments on social media to me guided and supported or respectfully disagreed with me
My prayers to this wonderful human being family and friends
The world lost a valuable person but God gained a great resource
Dan was a great mentor to me on the pool deck. We clicked right away. Not sure if was the fact that I have 2 daughters or if I was former law enforcement or just because he’s that kind of guy. As I rose through the official ranks he was their with pointers. When he decided to not renew his certification a couple years ago, my youngest came to say good bye at his last Fast Times meet in Lyndhurst. She couldn’t say it without crying and got Dan to cry a little too. As I took over Dan’s duty as Meet Referee for Scarlet I also revert back to his mentorship.
Off the pool deck he offered guidance when my friends teenage daughter was tragically killed in a car accident by an impaired driver. My friend didn’t like the plea deal being offered, so I reached out to Dan. Dan knew exactly what the plea was before I explained it to me. He said to me, “Mike, a friend of yours is a friend of mine. It he wants to, I’ll represent Pro Bono.”
That was the Dan I knew. I’m sorry to hear of his passing.
I worked with Dan in the Manhattan DA’s office from 1983-1987. He was a unique person with a wonderful smile, principled integrity, a sense of fun, and good vibes all around. My memories are fond and deep, though we had not connected over the decades since. My condolences to Dan’s wife and children and all who love him.
I had the pleasure of meeting and becoming friendly with Dan at swim meets. Our children swam on club teams together and Dan officiated at many of the meets that we attended. We had some great times and I’m glad I had the opportunity to know Dan.
He was a stand-up guy and even though we hadn’t seen each other for the past few years, he will always be remembered with a smile. Our deepest condolences to his wife, daughters and family.
The Cusmano Family.
I joined the FBI right out of law school and although I worked in the legal unit for a few years, upon my retirement I didn’t feel completely prepared to practice law on my own. Dan was my final interview at the Blanch Law Firm and we bonded over law enforcement stories, the fact that he lived in Harrington Park, where I grew up, and his stories of partying with the Grateful Dead…me being an accidental Dead Head through my sister. Later we shared a Law Office is Saddle River where I was blessed to have Dan as a full time resource and we had more than one afternoon popping into PJ Finnegans on the way home where I tried to explain to Dan the wrestling mafia he had accidentally become part of by sharing an office with me and several wrestlers. He was most proud of his family and talked about his girls everyday. RIP Dan…you will
Be sorely missed.
My deepest condolences to Dan’s wife, children, and sisters. I was great friends with his sister Barbara when we were in grade school. I was always at their house. Dan was yrs older than me, and the first time I saw him, I saw this tall, big guy walk in the house. Barbara introduced u,s we were kid,s and what a great guy he turned out to be. I was so shocked when i heard of his passing, never in a million years did i expect this. He was an awesome attorney, and i am very happy i talked to him through the years when i had questions about something. Dan you will be so missed by so so many, but not as missed as your wife , children and sisters will miss you. I love you so fly high with the angels now Dan as you were an angel on earth. God’s peace be with your family.. This is a shock to many of us for sure.
Dan’s integrity, sharp mind, and unwavering loyalty touched everyone fortunate enough to know him. He was not only a legendary prosecutor but a true friend whose absence leaves an irreplaceable void. My thoughts are with Gabriele, Devon, Diana, and all who loved him. Rest in peace, my dear friend—you will be profoundly missed.

I am deeply saddened by the passing of Daniel L. Bibb. As his current client, I came to know him not only as an extraordinary attorney, but as a man of profound kindness, integrity, and humanity. Dan was actively representing me and guiding me through the most challenging moment of my life, and his steady presence gave me a sense of clarity and strength that I will never forget.
I will always be grateful for his insight, his wisdom, and the deep well of knowledge he carried with such humility. He never rushed me, never judged me, and always made me feel heard—qualities that are rare and deeply cherished. Even in moments of uncertainty, Dan had a remarkable ability to calm my fears simply by explaining a path forward. I will miss that more than I can express.
To his wife Gabriele, and to Devon and Diana, please accept my heartfelt condolences. I hope you find comfort in knowing how deeply he touched the lives of those he served, and how his compassion, dedication, and brilliance will continue to live on in the people he helped.
Rest in peace, Dan. Thank you for your guidance, your patience, and your steadfast support. Your impact on my life will stay with me always.
I was deeply saddened to learn of Dan’s passing. Please accept my heartfelt condolences to his family, friends, and colleagues.
As a former client, I will always remember the profound help and guidance he provided during one of the most difficult periods of my life. He was not only exceptionally professional and skilled, but also showed genuine care and patience when I felt most lost and uncertain. Thanks to his dedication and expertise, my case was resolved successfully, and it brought a crucial turning point for me.
His kindness and commitment made a lasting impact. I will always be grateful for his support and remember him with great respect. The world has lost a remarkable lawyer and a wonderful person.
May he rest in peace.
My family and I were heartbroken to learn of Dan’s passing. Please accept our sincere condolences to his family, friends, and colleagues.
I will greatly miss his objective guidance and the sense of reassurance it brought. During one of the most challenging periods of my life, he provided steady, thoughtful support when I felt uncertain and overwhelmed. He was not only an exceptionally skilled and dedicated professional, but also a truly kind and patient presence who left a lasting impact on my life.
Rest in peace, Dan.
I miss my brother.
My warmest condolences to Dan’s family. I knew Dan first when he was a senior ADA in the homicide bureau and then one of the most dedicated cold case prosecutors with whom I’ve crossed paths. Oh, did I mention that I’m a career defense attorney. That did not get in the way of our connecting.
Later, when he joined the ranks of the defense bar, Dan humbled me when he reached out for an assist in an area that I had some particular experience, challenging DNA evidence and the then issues existing at the lab. We became closer, shared quite a few beers and burgers (and a couple of whiskies) while shooting the breeze about far more than law.
He was so dedicated to his lovely wife and daughters. His pride in his girls significant accomplishments always softened this bear of a guy. When Danielle passed, his eulogy was from another dimension, easily his best summation ever. How he held it together was a testament to his love for his daughter and being able to share that with his family and friends.
One of the PIs I worked with was a 1st grade homicide detective with NYPD before he retired from the force. His memories he shared of working with Dan and Dan’s high standards for the evidence before he approved of an arrest were a testament to the consummate pro. As a defense lawyer, it pissed him off when prosecutors were mailing it in and lax in their obligations. Antone who knew him knew he never held back and had some salty words for those guys.
Rest in power, Daniel. May your memory be for a blessing.
