Amelia T. Brackenbury

Amelia T. Brackenbury (nee Weinschreider), 85, of Old Tappan since 1977, passed away on Thursday, October 26, 2023. She was predeceased by her beloved husband Milton and her son Mark. Cherished mother of Scott and wife Jennifer of Harrington Park, Teresa Angelakos and husband Peter of Emerson, Jeannette Kammlott and husband Robert of Norwood, Andrew and wife Debbie of Oakland, Catherine Brackenbury of West New York. Adored grandmother of 14 and great-grandmother of two. Dearest sister of Marie Ottomanelli and her husband Nick and the late Edward Weinschreider. She is also survived by many other loving relatives and dear friends. 

Amelia was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, sister and friend. She was the sweetest, kindest and most selfless person anyone could ever know.  Amellia had a strong Christian faith and lived a life in service of Christ.  She was a parishioner of St. Pius X Church, Old Tappan and a member of the Old Tappan Fire Dept. Ladies Auxiliary.

A Funeral Mass will be celebrated Monday, October 30, 2023 at 11 AM at St. Pius X RC Church, Old Tappan. Visiting hours are Sunday, October 29, 2023 from 2-6 PM at Pizzi Funeral Home, 120 Paris Ave, Northvale (201-767-3050).

Marisa Bradshaw

Marisa Bradshaw, 45, of River Vale, NJ, passed away on Tuesday, October 17, 2023. She was the proud mother of Cassidy Zelt and Logan Zelt. Cherished daughter of Anne and the late Andrew Bradshaw. Loving sister of Jenna Gagliano and Andrew Bradshaw and beloved aunt of Aidan and Amaya. Also survived by many other loving relatives and dear friends.

Marisa was a bright light and a source of joy and kindness to everyone she encountered. She had a smile that lit up the world because she loved so deeply. Her empathy and compassion is what people were drawn to when they were in pain and needed a shoulder to cry on. She could make you laugh by a sigh, or a look, or one of her one-liners. She had this gift, even when she was a little girl. Somehow, even then she was able to know what you needed from her and she gave it to you. She will be terribly missed by all who knew and loved her.

Joseph J. DeCarlo

Joseph J. DeCarlo, 88, of Airmont, NY, passed away on Friday, October 13, 2023. Beloved husband of Anne B. (nee Vuoso). Cherished father of Marisa Briggs and her fiancé Tony Armetta. Proud grandfather of Joseph C. Briggs and his fiancé Janelle and John Briggs. Dear brother of Frank DeCarlo and his wife Anna and uncle of James.

Joseph was a US Army Veteran of the Korean War. He retired from NYNEX in New York after many years of service. Joe was a parishioner of Presentation Church in Upper Saddle River, NJ. Besides his love of family, Joe enjoyed sailing and travelling. He will be dearly missed.

Albert J. Frangione

Albert J. Frangione, 92, of Northvale, NJ, passed away on Saturday, October 14, 2023. Beloved husband of the late Patricia Ann (nee Zacchea). Loving father of Gary and wife Geraldine, Thomas (Lisa), John and wife Marcy, James and wife Little Star, Stephen and wife Lisa, Michele Mazzola and husband Craig and Christopher and wife Rebecca. Adored grandfather of ten grandchildren; Anthony, Timothy, Allison, Nicholas, Alexander, Samantha, Benjamin, Jake, Jackson, and Evie. Predeceased by four sisters and one brother.

Al was a proud US Army Veteran of the Korean War and belonged to the Northvale VFW, Norwood American Legion and the DAV. He was a devoted and active parishioner of St. Anthony’s Church in Northvale, where he was a Eucharistic Minister and lector. Al belonged to the Immaculate Conception Knights of Columbus Council. He was also a Scout Master for Troop 324 for seven years. Before enjoying retirement, Al worked for the NYC Transit Authority in Brooklyn for over 25 years.

Hankil Chung

Hankil Chung, 91, passed away peacefully at home on Wednesday, October 11, 2023. Beloved husband of the late Keunsook (Koh) Chung. Loving father of Michelle Han and her husband Alex and proud grandfather of Jesse, Peter and Jason. He is also survived by many other loving relatives both in the US and overseas.

Hankil was a graduate of Seoul University School of Commerce and received his MBA from Baruch College in NYC. He was a successful computer programmer for many years before retirement.

Visiting hours are Friday, October 13, 2023 from 6-7 PM at Pizzi Funeral Home, 120 Paris Avenue, Northvale, NJ. A service will be held at 7 PM. On Saturday, October 14, 2023 at 11 AM a service will be held at the funeral home with committal service and interment to follow at Rockland Cemetery, Sparkill, NY.

Barbara H. Leddy

Barbara H. Leddy (nee Brophy), 87, of Old Tappan, formerly Norwood, died peacefully on Sept. 29th, 2023. Barbara was born in Weehawken, NJ on10/18/35 to Helen and Nick Brophy. She will be deeply missed by all who knew her especially her six children Kathy Leddy, Kerry Malawista (Alan Heilbron), Carol Duffy (Bill Duffy), Maryellen Hanley (Joe Hanley), Karen Leddy (Mike Pilsbury) and Bobby Leddy.

She lived a full and interesting life. She grew up in Weehawken with her sister Maureen DiStaulo (Cozy) and brother Jim Brophy (Bev); living in a multifamily house with her Kinsey cousins who she loved like brothers. She attended nursing school where she would meet some of her lifelong friends, including Mary Weinstein.  At 24 she married Joe Farrell, an Exxon Executive. In1964 she and Joe had a daughter Maryellen. She was widowed in 1965 at the age of 30 and then at 38 (1973) she married Bob Leddy, a home improvement contractor, gaining 5 more kids- Kathy, Kerry, Carol, Karen and Bobby. Highlights of their life together included the many large family gatherings at their house in Norwood as well as the numerous  family jaunts into NYC for dinner out and a Broadway show. They traveled the world and often bought along their children and their spouses as well as their grandchildren. She embraced her blended large family and that love also extended to her nieces and nephews; Joanne (Fred), Chuck (Natalie), Sharon (Jared) and Cory (Paul).

Throughout her adult life she continued with her nursing career and transitioned to the role of a school nurse, retiring from Harrington Park school district in 1999. But her most joyful role in life was being a grandmother to her 17 grandchildren Sarah, Billy (Suzy), David (Alexis), Meaghan, Anna (Dani),  Hannah, Ryan, Nellie, Peter, Myles, Emma, Rhys, Jack, Liza, Ella, Ian and Emmett. She adored her 1-yr old great-granddaughter Isabelle and looked forward to the arrival of a second great granddaughter due this February. For the last 18 years she proudly drove a car with the license plate 17GRDKDS. 

She had many hobbies and interests. She loved playing tennis in her younger years and continued to enjoy watching the sport live or on TV.  She loved mahjongg and taught the game to many. When she became ill 20 months ago her grandkids joined her for weekly mahjongg games via ZOOM. She played canasta and always had a good book to read. She enjoyed going to Ocean Grove with friends and family. She was always on the go, which often included spending time with her sister Maureen, lunching and traveling with her life-long friends and wintering at her home in Florida. Her family and friends will remember her for her warm smile, her unwavering love, and her ability to shop.

Services are planned for Saturday October 21.

Thomas J. Hoey, Sr.

Thomas J. Hoey, Sr., 78, of Long Beach, NY, passed away on Sunday, October 1, 2023. He was born in Brooklyn in 1945 and married Marie Russo in 1964. Together they had three children, Yolanda Hoey, Thomas J. Hoey, Jr. and Rose Coste (Peter). Tom was the proud grandfather of Thomas III, Preston Ty, Marie Rose, Stephanie and Melissa and great-grandfather of Samantha, Julian and Sophia. He was also a beloved uncle and Godfather and brother-in-law.

Tom was a successful business owner in the produce industry for many years. An amazing father, Tom was kind, generous, hard-working and selfless. He cherished his family and loving living near the ocean in Long Beach, playing pool and bowling with friends. He will be missed by all who knew him.

Orlando Rodriguez

Orlando Rodriguez, 92, of New York, NY, passed away surrounded by his loving family on Sunday, October 1, 2023. Beloved husband of Carmin (nee Carrillo). Cherished father of Orlando, Ivette, Maria and Grisel. Proud grandfather of Orlando, Eric, William, Mia and William.

Orlando was born in Havana, Cuba October 19th, 1930 and emigrated to NYC at the age of 17 where he established his life. He married Carmin on May 29th 1959 and they celebrated their 64th anniversary this year. Orlando was an avid Mets fan and enjoyed watching games with his grandchildren. Carmin is a dedicated Yankee fan which led to lively discussions during Subway Series.

Initially employed by the US Postal service, Orlando eventually retired from the Metropolitan Transportation Authority after many years and resided in River Vale for the last 6 years. Orlando will be most remembered for his quick wit, hilarious sense of humor and love for his family.

Henry Carmelo Rubano

Henry Carmelo Rubano, Jr., 80, of Tappan, NY, passed away at home on Thursday, September 21, 2023. Beloved husband of Rose (nee Russo). Loving father of Enrico Rubano and his wife Johanna and Christina Rubano-Lau. Proud grandfather of Angelina, Nicholas, Ricky and Scarlett. Dear brother of Joanne Rubano and beloved uncle of her sons Thomas and Paul Campanella.

Henry was a proud US Navy Veteran of the Vietnam War. He served on the USS Long Beach and USS Hissem as a Radar man in the South Pacific. Before retiring Henry was a computer technician for Western Union International in NYC. He was a member of the DAV in Bergenfield and the Orangeburg Senior Center.

His smile and his laugh where infectious he loved telling stories about his life .

He loved food and music of many different kinds and loved talking to people were ever he went .

His kind, jovial and gregarious spirit will be missed dearly by many especially his family and close friends.
