George W. Stevens

George W. Stevens, 85, passed away on Thursday, July 18, 2019. A resident of Norwood for over 50 years, he was born and raised in Cincinnati, OH. He was the beloved husband of the late Elaine (nee Whitaker). Loving father of George H. and wife Kathy of Southaven, MS, Dale and wife Kelly of Norwood, Janice Finch of Chester, and the late James. Adored grandfather of Samantha, Gary, Marie, Courtney, George Michael and Madison and great-grandfather of six. Dearest brother of Mary Lou Stevens of OH and the late Robert.

George was a five time Emmy Award winning editor for ABC Television in NYC. He was a US Army veteran. George was a devoted family man, a loyal friend and a die-hard fan of the Cincinnati Bengals and the NJ Devils, he will be dearly missed.

Josephine S. Chiandusse

Josephine S. Chiandusse (nee Bono), 93, a lifelong resident of Northvale, NJ, passed away on Wednesday, July 17, 2019. Beloved wife of the late Enso. Loving mother of Jo-Ann Sillery and husband William of Northvale, Gene Chiandusse and late wife Judy of Mentone, CA and Richard Chiandusse and wife Karen of Northvale. Cherished grandmother of Liam, David, Jan and Christopher and great-grandmother of Myla and Josephine. Dearest sister of Stephanie Cole, Mary Rhodes and the late John, Ida, Louis, Virginia and Ann.

Josephine was a bookkeeper for Allyn and Bacon in Rockleigh.

Known to her family as “Non”, she was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother and was deeply loved.

A graveside service will be held Monday at 12 noon at Rockland Cemetery, Sparkill, NY.

Dorothy V. Kelly

Dorothy V. Kelly, 89, passed away peacefully on Tuesday July 16, 2019 after a brief but strong battle against cancer. She is predeceased by her Husband Jack Kelly to whom she was married for 63 years! She is survived by her two sons: Steve, and his wife Genny; and Donald; by her three grandchildren of whom she was extremely proud: Tom and his wife Kim, Megan and Jim; and by more than a dozen nieces and nephews. She loved them all!

Her life took her far beyond her beginnings on Sedgewick Avenue in the Bronx.  Dorothy started life splitting time in her early years between the Bronx and summers in Asbury Park, NJ. After careers with both Paramount Pictures, and Shell Oil Co, Dorothy married and began raising a family. Dorothy & Jack were fortunate enough to live in many places and leave behind wonderful friendships from their time in Ft Lee, NJ; New City, NY for 18 Years; Rio Pierdras, Puerto Rico; Bloomfield Hills MI, finally retiring for wonderful years in Hilton Head SC.

Dorothy will be remembered for her smile, her generosity, her devotion to family and friends, her love of dogs and of course her beloved NY Yankees!

A Christian Mass will be held at St Catherine’s Church Blauvelt, NY on Tuesday July 23 at 11AM. Visiting hours are Monday July 22 from 2-4PM and 7-9PM at Pizzi Funeral Home, 120 Paris Ave, Northvale, NJ (201-767-3050).

Frank R. Murphy

Frank R. Murphy, 84, of Norwood, NJ, formerly of Northvale, NJ, passed away on Tuesday, July 16, 2019. He was born in the Bronx and grew up in West New York before raising a family in Northvale in 1965. Frank was predeceased by his beloved wife Josephine. Cherished father of Debra Konzelmann and her husband Robert of Howell, NJ and Lisa Kopac and her husband Michael of Tappan, NY. Proud Pop Pop of Elissa, Robert, Vanessa, Lauren Jo, Katie and Alexandra. Also survived by his loving companion Fran D’Andrea.

Frank was a US Army veteran. He served on the Northvale Board of Education for many years and was a parishioner of Immaculate Conception RC Church, Norwood. Frank was a devoted husband, father, grandfather and friend and will be dearly missed by all who knew him.

Mario J. Marchiano “Skippy”, 85, of Norwood, passed away on Monday, July 15, 2019. Beloved husband of the late Mary. Beloved brother of Angelo and his late wife Aurelia, late brother Thomas and late sister Marie. Cherished uncle of many nephews and nieces.

Brian Williams, Jr.

Brian Williams, Jr., 56, of Old Tappan, passed away on Thursday, July 11, 2019 surrounded by his loving family.  Beloved husband of Kristine (née Caruso) Williams.  Proud father of Marissa and Haley Williams.  Devoted son of Virginia and the late Brian Williams, Sr.  Loving brother of Karen Lindner and April Wheeler.  Cherished son-in-law of Lucille Schoales and John and Carol Caruso.  Dear brother-in-law of Michael Schoales, Jessica Amaral and Timothy Schoales.  Favorite uncle of Kingston, Marley and Lola.

Brian worked as a manager for DVTEL, Inc. in Ridgefield Park for more than 10 years.  He adored his children and always made sure he attended their sporting events.  He was renowned as the “Team Dad”!   Brian enjoyed all of his children’s other extracurricular activities as well.

John J. Smyth

John J. Smyth, 94, of Old Tappan, formerly of Dumont, passed away on Saturday, July 6, 2019. Loving husband of the late Mary Smyth (nee Kennedy). Devoted father of Kevin and his wife Gwen of Cary, NC, Marie Homa and her husband James of Stockholm, NJ, and Sharon Giardini and her husband Daniel of New City, NY. John retired from Mason Tenders Local 79 in NYC. He was a devoted husband, father and grandfather and was proud of both his family and his Irish heritage.

Joseph Vara, Sr.

Joseph Vara, Sr., 78, of Pearl River, formerly of Blauvelt, passed away suddenly on Friday, July 5, 2019. Beloved husband of Lorraine (nee Narcisse). Cherished father of Tracy Garro and husband Marc of Blauvelt and the late Joseph Jr. Proud grandfather of Alyssa, Anthony, Joseph, Taylor and Nicholas. Dear father-in-law of Angela Vara. Loving brother of Barbara Vara Fleming and the late John and James. He is also survived by his beloved horse, Major.

Joe was a US Army veteran. He was an operating engineer for Local 14 for many years. Joe adored his horse, Major, was an avid golfer and enjoyed riding motorcycles, on-road and off. He will be dearly missed.

Domenico Gaudio

Domenico Gaudio, 70, of Northvale, formerly of the Bronx, passed away at home surrounded by his loving family on Tuesday, July 2, 2019. Devoted husband of Rosa (nee Tevere). Proud father of Maria LaRocco and her husband Philip of New City and Vincenzo Gaudio of Bronx, NY. Adored nonno of Olivia Rosa and Philip III. Beloved brother of Anna Reda and her husband Mario, Antonio Gaudio and his wife Maria, Pasquale Gaudio, Josephine Tevere and her husband Giuseppe, Giuseppe Gaudio and Flora Foglia and her husband Philip. Loving uncle of many nieces, nephews and great-nieces and great-nephews.

Domenico traveled to the United States in 1968 from Calabria, Italy. Along with his father and brothers, he opened up the Original Three Boys from Italy Pizzeria in the Bronx, NY.  Domenico married the love of his life, Rosa, in 1979 and became the proud father of Maria and Vincenzo.  In 1995, he opened Three Boys From Italy in Northvale, NJ, where he shared his love of good food and good friends with this community for over 20 years.  Domenico will be remembered fondly for his love and devotion to his family and friends, his love of Italian soccer, his passion for making and sharing his homemade wine, his love for his grandchildren, and for the joy he brought to others.  Domenico will continue to be a constant presence in the lives of all who know and love him.  He has made a mark on this world and will be greatly missed.

Jeannie R. Ryan

Jeannie R. Ryan, 63, died on Monday July 1, 2019 after years of strength and fierce optimism in a struggle against cancer.  She was the beloved mother of Erica Ryan (and husband Matthew Schuck) and Michael John Ryan (and wife Candice Lim).  She was grandmother to Alice Ryan Schuck, her favorite person on this earth.  She was the cherished sister of Mary Jane Sacco (and husband Charles Sacco), John Conroy (and wife Susan Conroy), Nancy Cirelli, and Donna DeNucci (and husband Mario DeNucci).  She was predeceased by her parents, John and Mary Jane Conroy.  And she was loved by many family and friends.  She made the world a better place, and we carry her on in our hearts.
