Selena M. Piazza Giuliano, 65, of Norwood, NJ, passed away at home on Thursday, January 30, 2025. She was predeceased by her beloved husband, Thomas Giuliano, her parents, John and Marie Piazza. Dear sister of John Piazza, Jr. and his late wife Barbara. Loving niece of Nancy Lombardo and cousin of Joseph Lombardo.

Selena was a gifted with musical talent that was passed down from her parents, John and Marie. She sang at many local churches over the years, but most recently enjoyed being part of the parish community as Cantor at Our Lady of Victories in Harrington Park, NJ. Selena was also a hairdresser for many years at various salons. Selena was a beautiful woman inside and out and her memory will be cherished by all who knew her.

A Funeral Mass to celebrate Selena’s life will be held on Saturday, February 8, 2025 at 10 AM at Our Lady of Victories, Harrington Park with inurnment to follow at Rockland Cemetery, Sparkill, NY.

Frank Pawlowski, 90, of Northvale, NJ passed away peacefully on January 21, 2025 after a long illness. He was born at home on January 1, 1935 in Hoboken, NJ to the late John and Helen Pawlowski, and proudly stated that Frank Sinatra’s mother, Dolly Sinatra, delivered him as a midwife and suggested his name. Frank was the fourth of seven siblings growing up in the Depression Era.

Frank was married to the late Erna Pawlowski (nee Gress) for 49 years up to her passing in 2005. He was very proud that he raised twin boys and a daughter and loved his 8 grandchildren and 2 great grandchildren (with one more on the way in Feb).

Frank was extremely proud of his 3-year enlistment in the US Army, 101^st Airborne Division, which resulted in him being station at the 38^th parallel in Korea during the later years of the war. The highlight of his deployment was when he was selected to dine with Marilyn Monroe during one of her tours, because ofhis exceptional conduct as a soldier.

After being honorably discharged from the military, Frank embarked on a 25-year career at The Ford Motor Company in the Mahwah assembly plant followed by a 33-year career with the US Post Office, retiring at the age of 81. At the Post Office, Frank quickly rose the ranks from carrier to Post Master of the Alpine branch. He was also President of the local association of postal supervisors, known as NAPS. On the side, he was a licensed real estate agent.

Frank was a go-getter and was always looking to improve himself. He had a keen focus on driving to his goals that advanced his situation, so he could be the best provider for his family. He was friends to everyone and was always seen wearing a suit and tie. Frank enjoyed reading history books and watching documentaries, especially those pertaining to WWII. He loved the Frank Sinatra song “My Way” and had a strong relationship to the lyrics as he felt it described the challenges and successes in his life. He was very proud of his Polish heritage and was quick to display it, but was always an American first. Frank religiously attended services at St Anthony RC in Northvale. Frank was always busy and tookgreat pride in impeccably maintaining the outside of his home and his Ford/Lincoln vehicles. 

Frank will be missed by his family and all who knew him.

Frances Tabacco, (Marino) 84, of Blauvelt, NY, passed away peacefully on Sunday, January 26, 2025. She was the beloved wife of Francesco (Frank) Tabacco, with whom she shared 62 beautiful years of marriage, creating a home filled with love, warmth, and cherished memories.

Frances was the adored mother of Michele Bottari and her husband Michael, and her son, Anthony Tabacco. She was a proud grandmother to Christina who was the light of her life.  She is also survived by her dear siblings, Joseph Marino, Susan Niksa and her husband Roman, and her late brother Elio “Al” Marino, along with his wife Anna Rose, as well as many loving nieces and nephews.

Born in Sicily, Frances immigrated to America at the age of nine with her mother and siblings. She was a devoted stay-at-home mom, raising her family in the Bronx before settling in Blauvelt in 1979. Frances found joy in the simple pleasures of life, including shopping, cleaning, and, most of all, spending time with her family and loved ones.

Frances will be remembered as a devoted wife, mother, grandmother, and sister who was deeply loved and brought joy to all who knew her. She will be greatly missed.

Barbara Struss, 85, a lifelong resident of Norwood, NJ, passed away on Saturday, January 25, 2025. She was the cherished mother of James Struss and his wife Donnel. Proud grandmother of Jynell and Donovan. Loving sister of Catherine Schryver and her husband Warren and the late Louis Struss, Jr. Also survived by her beloved dog Molly.

Barbara worked many years at Colorforms in Norwood and Ramsey before retiring.

GOULDSBURY, Anne 0. peacefully passed away on Wednesday, January 22, 2025. At the time of death, she was residing in her apartment at the Arbor Terrace Assisted Living facility in Middletown, NJ.

Anne was born in New York City on August 18, 1936. She lived a long productive life filled with joy, travel adventures with her husband Bill and get-togethers with family and friends. She was an outgoing vivacious person who had a zest for life. In the last year, Anne faced the inevitable with courage and acceptance.

Anne is predeceased by her parents John and Anna Zloch, her brother John, and her husband William Gouldsbury. She is survived by her brother Robert Zloch (Janie), nieces and nephews Kathleen (John) O’Hara, Jane (Brian) Farrell, Richard (Lisa) Gouldsbury, Suzanne DiFilippo (Rick), Penny Ray (Michael), Betsy Hartman (Steve) and John Zloch (Elaine), great and great great nephews and nieces, cousins, and friends.

Anne’s life was an American dream that began when her parents, John and Anna Zloch, decided to emigrate between the world wars to the United States from what is now Slovakia. Anne was born and raised in lower Manhattan.  Her family lived in an apartment building with all the other immigrantsfrom Slovakia. She did well in high school.  Her spiritual needs were tended to at Holy Trinity Slovak Lutheran Church where she taught Sunday school.  

Anne worked in Manhattan and graduated from college with a BBA degree after 13 years of night school.  Anne married Bill Gouldsbury in what turned out to be a storybook marriage of 40 years.  She loved living in Northvale and spent 10 years on the town council. Her signature accomplishment on the council was the opening of the McGuire Senior Center.

Hugh J. Flanagan, 84, of Northvale, NJ, passed away surrounded by the love of his family on Friday, January 24, 2025. Beloved husband of MaryEllen (nee Neville). Loving father of Tara Henrici (Steven), Hugh Ryan Flanagan (Candice) and Megan Lewis (Marc). Proud grandfather of Steven, Brendan (Lauren), Sarah, Caroline, Mariah, Fiona and Liam. Loving brother of Patricia Traudt and the late Sarah Flanagan and Imelda Flanagan. Dear brother-in-law of Denise and Garry McElroy and Michael and Ilva Neville and the late John Neville.

Hugh was a US Coast Guard Veteran. He was a lineman for NY Telephone in the Bronx for many years before retiring. Hugh was a member of the Northvale American Legion Post 366 and the Knights of Columbus Immaculate Conception Council 9021.

Robert Palmay, 91, passed away peacefully surrounded by the love of his family at his residence in Old Tappan on January 24, 2025. 

Robert was a loving husband to his wife Jean-Marie of 67 years. He was predeceased by his parents Richard and Helen, his twin sister Eileen and his son Richard. Robert was a dedicated father to Toni(Alan) and John(Amanda) and father in-law to Noreen. He was a beloved grandfather to Robert, Keara, Danielle, Alyssa, Corey, Nicholas and Emilee whom he was so proud of.

Robert proudly served the United States Army in the Korean War as a part of the 40th infantry division. He then worked as a skilled lithographer for the National Law Press in New York City where he made an honest living for his family. Robert loved nothing more than being surrounded by his family, enjoyed storytelling, loved traveling & cruises, loved cutting the grass, was a lifelong hockey fan and was a Jeopardy enthusiast. We will carry his memory with us forever. He will be greatly missed.

Normae McClear Spadaccini, age 88 gained her angel wings on January 21, 2025. Normae was born on August 16, 1936 to the late John and Florence McClear and lived a full life – one filled with happiness, the joy of family, and a strong faith in God.

Normae was married to her beloved husband, John Spadaccini for sixty-nine beautiful years. Together they raised four beautiful children – Angelo, Normae, the late Michael, and Frank. She is survived by Angelo and his wife Anya, Normae and her husband Paul, and Frank and his wife Joanne. Normae was also blessed with fourteen grandchildren and twenty great grandchildren – with another great grandchild on the way.

Her legacy of grandchildren include Carolyn, Angelo John, Sierra, Gabriela, Krystle, John, Jennifer, Jimmy, Matthew, Michael James, Evan, Alicia, Brandon, and Zachary.

Normae is also survived by her three sisters; Leona, Joanne, and Florence. Normae and her sisters remained close through their lives and were known to share “everything” with one another.

Normae spent her formative years in Jersey City, New Jersey. Following her marriage to John and after a brief time in New York, New York and Teaneck, New Jersey, Normae and John settled in Norwood, New Jersey. She served the Norwood Community for ten years as the town’s librarian. Normae was an avid reader and a fervent fan of the Notre Dame Fighting Irish. She also enjoyed watching golf, and her favorite game shows – Jeopardy and Wheel of Fortune, where her mind was so sharp that her children and grandchildren would often coax her to apply to be a show contestant.

The family is welcoming those who would like to pay their final farewell to Normae during a wake on Sunday, January 26, 2025 from 3:00 PM to 7:00 PM at Pizzi’s Funeral Home, located at 120 Paris Avenue in Northvale, New jersey. Ilona Marie (Stampf) Moran died peacefully surrounded by family in her home on January 16, 2025, after a long illness. The oldest of four children, Ilona was born November 7, 1940, at Lenox Hill Hospital, NYC to her loving parents John and Theresa (Marth) Stampf. She graduated from Taft High School in 1957 at the age of 16 and went to work as a secretary.  

Ilona met Tommy Moran at Orchard Beach, NY. She refused to share her phone number, but Tommy convinced her girlfriends to share it with him! Thankfully, she answered that call and they soon happily fell in love and were married on April 23,1960. Theirs was a fairytale marriage admired by all. 

A devoted stay-at-home Mom to her three daughters, Ilona and Tommy raised their family in the Bronx until they moved to West Nyack in 1972 and became active parishioners at St. Anthony’s Church in Nanuet. Ilona volunteered on many fronts for St. Anthony’s Religious Education program, as well as for their Senior Citizen program serving lunches.  She agreed to fill in temporarily as a Girl Scout Leader and 10 years later was still leading GS Troop 22!  Later, after Tommy retired, they became Eucharistic Ministers at Nyack Hospital which she continued to do for many years after Tommy died in 2012. 

One of Ilona’s most treasured roles was as a stay-at-home grandmother, helping to care for each of her nine grandchildren whenever needed, supporting them throughout their school years and at track meets, games, concerts and graduations and well into their adult lives.  

Ilona is survived by her daughters and sons-in-law, Laura Fox, Theresa and Patrick Sullivan, Kathleen and James Fulgione, and her grandchildren, Katherine and Susan Fox, Lauren, Thomas and Devin Sullivan, Kathleen (Sullivan) and Nicholas Gallo, Eric and Nicholas Fulgione. She is also survived and will be dearly missed by her brothers and sisters-in-law John and Rosemary Stampf, Frank and Terri Stampf and Barbara Stampf, as well as many loving nieces and nephews.  

Ilona is predeceased by her husband, Thomas, the love of her life, her parents John and Theresa Stampf, her father-in-law and mother-in-law Michael and Mary Ellen Moran, several beloved brothers- and sisters-in law, her brother Joseph Stampf, and her most beloved grandson, Joseph Fox.

We are so grateful for her incredible Hospice team, Donna, Kelsey, and Rabbi Shlomo, and ever so grateful to the wonderful women who helped us take care of our Mom these past five years~Eileen Tucci, Nellie, Alison, Annabelle, Dionne and Mom’s “A-Team,” Arlene and Angie. We especially want to acknowledge and thank Arlene, who was Mom’s devoted caregiver at home for more than 2 ½ years.

Kevin F. Nelson, 58, of Sparkill, passed away on Wednesday, January 15, 2025. Kevin was predeceased by his beloved parents Richard J. and Joan T. Nelson and his dear sister Kris. He was the cherished brother of Joan T. Nelson and her partner Glenn Westman and Richard J. and wife Debi as well as the proud uncle of William, Jace, Aidan and Lola.

Kevin was a steamfitter for Local 638, NY, NY. He loved reading and was an avid fan of the NY Islanders and the Detroit Lions.

A memorial service will be held at a later date.
