Peter F. Tantillo

   Peter F. Tantillo, 89, of Tappan, NY, passed away at home, on Tuesday, November 29, 2011.  Beloved husband of the late Filomena.  Loving father of Frank of Austin, TX, Phyllis of Jupiter, FL and JoAnn Jaworski and her husband Tom of River Vale.  Cherished grandfather of Melissa, Amanda, Nicole and Christina and great-grandfather of Alexa, Vinny and Gino.  Dear brother of the late Vincent and Dominick.

   Mr. Tantillo was US Army veteran of WWII.  Serving in the Pacific, he was a paratrooper with the 11th Airborne Division and received the Bronze Star.  Peter was an electrician with Local 3 in New York City and remained active with the group after retiring.  He was a member of the American Legion John Secor Post 329 in Pearl River, the Orangetown Senior Center and was head usher at Our Lady of the Sacred Heart RC Church in Tappan for 25 years.

   Peter especially enjoyed studying opera and travelling the world with his wife Filomena.

Mary Bianchino

   Mary Bianchino (nee Cantorino), 94, of Norwood, formerly of Bergenfield, passed away on Wednesday, November 16, 2011.  Beloved wife of the late Louis.  Cherished mother of Dolores Napolitano of Norwood and the late Philip Bianchino.   Adored grandmother of Jenna DuRen and Bryan Napoiltano.  Loving great-grandmother of Toby, William, Gavin and Avery.

    Mrs. Bianchino was a parishioner of Immaculate Conception RC Church and was a member of the Woman’s Club of Norwood and Northvale.

Norma Wellbank

   Norma Wellbank (nee Maccucci), 90, of Rockleigh, formerly of Ridgefield, passed away on Thursday, November 10, 2011.  Beloved wife of the late John J. Wellbank.  Devoted mother of Patrick and his wife Arlene of Rockleigh, Lawrence of Dumont, Marsha Corcoran and her husband Robert of New Windsor, NY and Janis Jones of Towaco.  Adored grandmother of Wayne, Sharon, Cathleen, Janice and David.  Cherished great-grandmother of five.

   Mrs. Wellbank was a member of the Tappan Homemakers, the James F. McGuire Senior Center in Northvale and the Widow and Widowers of Northern Valley.

   A Memorial Mass will be celebrated Saturday 10:00 AM at St. Anthony’s RC Church, Northvale.

Susan Corsie Bauer

   Susan Bauer (nee Corsie), 59, of Cresskill, passed away on Friday, November 11, 2011.  Loving mother of Raymond and his wife Christina of Hackensack.  Beloved daughter of Althea Corsie and the late Richard, Sr. of Northvale.  Adored grandmother of her only granddaughter Arianna.  Dearest sister and sister-in-law of Richard Corsie Jr. of Northvale, Michael and Pam Corsie of ME, Mary Ellen and Doug Harris of WA, James and Lynn Corsie of Stony Point, NY, Kathleen and Frank Paccione of Highland Lakes, Therese and Robert Vaglio of Garnerville, NY and Thomas Corsie of Princeton.  Also survived by thirteen nieces and nephews.  Predeceased by her nephew Bruce Luzzi and sister-in-law Pat Corsie.

   Susan was a member of the National MS Society NJ Chapter.  She was active at the Chapel at Bergen Regional Med Ctr and prior to that was a parishioner of St. Therese RC Church, Cresskill.  She had been a student at Bergen Community College.

   Susan lives in the hearts of those who loved her and will be missed by many.

John W. Straub

   John W. Straub, 58, of Norwood, passed away on Saturday, November 12, 2011.  Loving son of Muriel of Norwood and the late Arthur.  Dear brother of Arthur Jr. and his wife Charlene of Piermont, NY and Stanley of Norwood.  Beloved uncle of Suzanne, Kurt, John and Ashley and great-uncle of two nieces and one nephew.

Fioravanti “Fonti” Piazza

   Fioravanti “Fonti” Piazza, 90, of Northvale, passed away at home on Sunday, November 6, 2011.  Beloved husband of Pauline (nee Russo).  Loving father and father-in-law of Robert and Monica of FL, Tim and Mary of GA, Paulette Scatassa and Joe of New City, NY, Ronald and Joyce of TN, Christopher and Cheryl of CA, Gerard and Tammy of CA and Daniel of MI.  Cherished grandfather of 19 grandchildren, 11 great-grandchildren and two great-great-grandchildren.  Dearest brother of John and his wife Marie of Northvale.

   Mr. Piazza was a WWII Air Force veteran.  He was a devoted parishioner and choir member of St. Anthony’s RC Church and was a member of the Northvale Senior Center and the Golden Agers.

Joseph Stimpfle

   Joseph Stimpfle,  73, of Rockleigh, formerly of Rutherford, passed away on Saturday, October 29, 2011.  Predeceased by his loving parents John and Frances.  Dearest brother of Jeanette DiGerolamo of Hillsborough and John and his wife Eileen of Northvale.  Cherished uncle of four nephews, three nieces and ten great nieces and nephews.  He will also be dearly missed by all his friends at Bergen County Health Care.

   Before retiring, Mr. Stimpfle was a printer for Amalgamated Lithopgraphers in Brooklyn.

Susanne Schou Carroll

Susanne Schou Carroll nee Sorensen (Susse) of Tappan, NY passed on into eternal life surrounded by her loving family and friends on October 31, 2011.  She was born in Arhus, Denmark on January 24, 1958 to Anna Marie Sorensen and Karl Robert Sorensen. On April 11, 1976, she met the love of her life, John Gerard Carroll whom she married on January 7, 1978. After to moving to Tappan in 1983, they started their family with the birth of their daughter Anne Marie Carroll on August 16, 1984.  She then had her first son Gerard Ronan (Roddy) Carroll on February 26, 1988 and then gave birth to Dennis John Carroll on June 15, 1993.  She was a graduate of the Vejle Handlesskole Business College of Vejle, Denmark. Besides giving birth to her children, one of the proudest days of her life was when she became an American Citizen on March 5, 1982.  She is survived by her husband John, her children Anne Marie, Gerard and Dennis; her mother Anna Marie Sorensen of Vejle, Denmark; her sisters Birthe Pedersen of Vejle, Denmark and Lotte Axelsen of Ribe, Denmark; her nieces and nephews in Denmark Anja Axelsen, Mads Pedersen and Mikkle Pedersen. She was a Customer Service representative of Volvo of America before starting her family and also worked as a waitress at Sullivan’s Tappan Inn for many years. She enjoyed entertaining her family and friends, her Danish Holiday traditions, cooking and the multitude of activities that her children were involved in. She loved to travel and meet new people. The family encourages that in lieu of flowers donations be made to the American Cancer Society (www.acs.org) in her name for the battle against lung cancer. The family will receive friends at Anthony R. Pizzi Funeral Home, Northvale (pizzifuneralhome.com) on Thursday, November 3, from 7:00 to 9:00 and on Friday, November 4 from 2:00 to 4:00 and 7:00 to 9:00.  The Funeral Service will be held at the Dutch Reformed Church, Tappan, NY on Saturday November 5, 2011 at 9:30 AM.

Dolores A. Jones

   Dolores A.Jones (nee Johnson), of Northvale for 50 years, passed away peacefully on Sunday, October 30, 2011.  Beloved wife of the late Thomas.  Cherished other of Thomas and his wife Therese of Norwood and Carolyn Jones of Ramsey.  Dearest sister of the late Thomas Johnson. 

   Mrs. Jones, an animal lover, was a parishioner of St. Anthony’s RC Church, a was a member of the Northvale Senior Center and the Harrington Park Garden Club.

Mary Gioia

  Mary Gioia (nee Benowitz) 95, of Haworth, formerly of  Englewood Cliffs, passed away
peacefully surrounded by her family on Friday, October 28, 2011.                    .  
She is the devoted mother of John and his wife Judy of Rutherford, Louis and his wife Jane of Haworth and William of Toms River. She was predeceased by her husband Louis, her dear brothers, Bernie and Benny, her sister Kazia, and her daughter Joan Bochese.
She is also survived by many grandchildren and great-granchildren, nephews and nieces.
