Rose Marie Scarpaci

Rose Marie Scarpaci (nee Esposito), 65, a longtime resident of Orangeburg, passed away on Saturday, May 17, 2014.  Beloved wife of Guy for 44 years.  Devoted mother of Anthony and his wife Holli of Las Vegas, NV, Julie Blauvelt and her husband Rich, Jr. of Washingtonville, Joseph and his wife Jana of Sugarloaf and Angela Plump and her husband Garrett of Maywood, NJ.  Adored grandmother of Tristyn, Lisa Rose, Anthony, Lily, Joseph, Brooke, Thomas and Veronika.  She is also survived by many loving relatives and friends.

Rose Marie was a teacher for the New York City Public School System and was also a substitute teacher in Pearl River.  She was a parishioner of St. Catharine’s RC Church, Blauvelt.

A Funeral Mass will be celebrated Wednesday 10:00 AM at St. Catharine’s with interment to follow at St. Anthony’s Cemetery, Nanuet.  Visiting hours are Monday 7-9 PM and Tuesday 2-4 and 7-9 PM at Pizzi Funeral Home, Northvale, NJ.

Constance Seter

SETER, Constance, 95, passed away on April 27, 2014.

Constance was born in Gardner, MA.  After living in the Chicago, IL area, she was a long-term resident (over 44 years) of Norwood, NJ. She spent her final years in assisted living at Sunrise in Cresskill, NJ.

Constance spent her career working in various professional jobs, and raising her sons, Doug and Dave. When her husband Clifford retired, she continued to work part-time in the Norwood Public Library. After retiring from the library at age 80 she enjoyed lunch gatherings with former employees and other long-term residents of the Norwood area. She and her friends became known as the “Bookbags”, commemorating their professional association and their enjoyment of reading. Constance also participated in activities at the Northvale, NJ McGuire Senior Center.

Underneath her quiet demeanor was a deeply passionate love for family and friends. She prided herself on bestowing happiness on others, on a daily basis.

She was preceded in death by her husband of 53 years, Clifford Seter; her sister, Lenora Martin, and her brother, Steve Civas. She is survived by her sons Doug Seter of Escondido, CA and Dave Seter of Petaluma, CA.

Services and internment were held at the Saron Lutheran Church, Erskine, MN.

Edward Benyo

Edward Benyo, 86, of Northvale, passed away on Wednesday, May 7, 2014.  Beloved brother of Raymond.  Ed is also survived by his loving cousins, Marjorie Peterson, Gail Hartigan and Betty Day, his dear friend Bob Jollimore, as well as other cherished family and friends.

Ed was a US Army veteran of WWII.

John J. O’Connor

John J. O’Connor, 90, of Boca Raton, FL, formerly of Northvale, passed away on Saturday, May 3, 2014.  Beloved husband of Anna O’Connor (nee Verni).  Cherished uncle of Robert and Lynn.  Dear brother of the late Daniel.  He is also survived by many loving relatives and friends.

John was a US Navy veteran of WWII.  He was a member of the Northvale VFW and the Deerfield Beach, FL American Legion.  He also belonged to the Knights of Columbus St. Mary’s Council 3679 in Closter for many years.  Before retiring, John worked for A & P in Elmsford, NY.

Donald E. Lizotte

Donald E. Lizotte, 64, of Harrington Park, passed away on Tuesday, April 29, 2014.  Beloved husband of the late Kim Lizotte.  Devoted father of Travis of West Milford, Tracy of Emerson and Ashley Plescia and her husband Michael of Harrington Park.  Adored grandfather of Marshall and Madison.  Dearest brother of Eugene of Leonia, Lorraine Delling of Old Tappan, Walter of FL, Paul of RI, Roland of Demarest, Irene Bertero of FL and the late Alice, Robert and Raymond.  Donald is also survived by his girlfriend Doreen Bartash as well as his niece Donna Pulsonetti, sister-in-law Karen May, and a large extended family of in-laws, cousins, nieces, nephews and dear friends.

Don retired from a lifelong career as an electrician from the IBEW Local 3 NYC. He loved fishing, cars, and riding his quad. He loved spending time at his farm house in upstate New York with his family. His favorite times were those spent with his beautiful grandchildren. His was known for his colorful personality and always good for a laugh.

Visitation will be Friday 2-4 and 6:30-9 PM at the Pizzi Funeral Home, 120 Paris Avenue, Northvale. A Funeral Service will be held during the evening hours.

Clara Keller

Clara Keller (nee Reusch), 100, of Norwood, formerly of Port Jervis, NY, passed away on Sunday, April 20, 2014. Born in Ulm, Germany on October 16, 1913.  She was the beloved wife of the late Lorenz Keller.  Devoted mother of Ursula Hope of Northvale and George Keller and his wife Alaine of Newnan, GA.  Adored grandmother of Amy Mai Tierney and her husband Jay, Kelly Ann Hope and her husband Glenn O’Reilly and the late Matthew Hope.  Cherished great-grandmother of Cora, Jack, Cullen, Mai Anne, Finn, Michael and Casey.  Predeceased by her sister, Marie, brothers, Hans and Karl and son-in-law, John “Jack” Hope.  She was the loving aunt of many nieces and nephews and their families in North Carolina and Germany.

Clara will be dearly missed. Always poised, she lived life to the fullest.  Her wisdom and strength will live on in her family.

Donna Marie Rose Pirretti

Donna Marie Rose Pirretti, 61, of Bergenfield, formerly of Park Ridge, passed away at home on Wednesday, April 9, 2014.  Beloved wife of husband, Joseph Pirretti.  Also survived by her mother, Estelle Perretti, brothers, Daniel and Donald, brother-in-law, Dominick and their families.

Ronald G. Ciolfi

 

Ronald G. Ciolfi, 85, of Tappan, formerly of the Bronx, passed away on Tuesday, April 8, 2014.  Beloved husband of RoseMarie (nee Vetrano).   Adored father of Elena Williams and her husband Harry of Nyack, Rosemarie Chadwick and her husband Frederick, Sr. of Tappan and Diane Bowling and her husband Frank of Walden.  Cherished grandfather of Frederick, Jr. “JR”, Maria, Luke, JennaRose, Jennifer and Nicholas.  Predeceased by his parents Ernest and Eleonora and his brothers Alfred, Orlando and Norman.  He is also survived by many nieces, nephews.

 

Ron was a loving husband and father and his grandchildren were his pride and joy.  He proudly served his country in the United States Army National Guard for many years.  Ronald was a dedicated firefighter who was a life member of the Tappan Vol. Fire Assn., the Rockland County Vol. Fire Assn, where he was the Orangetown vice-president, the Hudson Valley Vol. Fire Assn and the NJ/NY Vol. Fire Assn., as trustee.  He was also a member of the Piermont Senior Citizens Center and the Pearl River Gun Club. 

 

A Funeral Mass will be celebrated Friday 10:00 AM at Our Lady of the Sacred Heart RC Church, Tappan with interment to follow.  Visiting hours are Thursday 2-4 and 7-9 PM at the Pizzi Funeral Home, 120 Paris Ave, Northvale. A Firematic Service will be held at 7:15 PM.

Leo J. Dunaj

Leo J. Dunaj, 82, of Northvale, passed away on Monday, April 7, 2014.  Beloved husband of the late Patricia Dunaj.  Cherished father of Colleen Beutel and her husband Jeffrey of Suffern, NY, Sharon Flesche and her husband Fred of Northvale, Michael Doyle, Patricia Wullen and her husband Danny of Bergenfield, Dennis Doyle of Warwick, NY and Kathleen Nugent and her husband Michael of Hillsdale.  Adored grandfather of Brendan, Matthew, Jamie, Thomas, Shawn, Timothy, Michelle, Maxwell, James, Leo and Mark.  Predeceased by nine brothers and sisters.

Mr. Dunaj was a US Navy Veteran of the Korean War.  He retired from RCA as a manager after many years and then worked at Volkswagon.  For the past twenty years he worked for Bergen County as a security guard.  Besides his love for his family, Leo was an avid bowler, playing as much as he could.
