Edelmira Rivera

Edelmira Rivera (nee Torres), 90, of the Bronx, NY, passed away on Wednesday, January 8, 2025. Beloved wife of the late Luis Rivera. Loving mother of Luis and wife Stacey, Edith Lopez and husband Abel, Dolores Tirado and husband Albert and Rosalind Vega and husband Steve. Proud and adored grandmother of nine grandchildren and ten great-grandchildren. Dearest sister of Gladys, Adela, Auria, Tommacita and the late Lydia, Israel, Domingo, Manolin and Irma. Also survived by many loving nieces and nephews.

Edelmira was a devoted wife, mother and grandmother. She was a devout Catholic and cherished her family and her faith deeply.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated Thursday, January 16, 2025 at 10 AM at St. Patrick Church, 448 Route 32, Highland Mills, NY. Interment will follow at Cemetery of the Highlands

Mary Noone

Mary Noone (nee Fahy), 95, passed away on Wednesday, January 8, 2025. Mary was born in County Clare, Ireland in 1929 to the late Nora and Roger Fahy. She came to America in 1948. She raised her family in Elmhurst, NY (St. Bartholomew’s Parish) and later retired to Huntington, NY (St. Patrick’s Parish).

Mary was predeceased by her loving husband, Thomas, her beloved son, Michael, and her four sisters and brother.

Mary is survived by three daughters: Marie Cambria and husband Roy, Sheila Conroy and husband Patrick, Alice Rogers and husband Charles. Proud grandmother of Roy Anthony, Steven (Ashley), Matthew, Kevin (Jessica), Thomas (Jamie), Daniel, Meaghan (Kevin), Kristen (Connor) and Caroline (Chris). Mary was also the cherished great-grandmother of 11 great-grandchildren.

A devout Catholic, Mary was a member of the Rosary Society and the Catholic Daughters of the Americas and was always active in her local parish. She was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother, sister, aunt and friend. Mary will be dearly missed by all who knew her.

Visiting hours are Friday, January 10, 2025 from 5-8 PM at Pizzi Funeral Home, 120 Paris Ave, Northvale, NJ. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated Saturday, January 11, 2025 at 10 AM at St. Anthony’s Church, 199 Walnut St., Northvale, NJ with interment to follow at Gate of Heaven Cemetery, Hawthorne, NY.

James R. Housley

James R. Housley, 89, of Northvale, NJ, passed away on January 8, 2025 surrounded by his loving family.  

Born in North Bergen, February 2, 1935, Jim was one of five: Mary (Stasi) Janet (Capozzi), Barbara (Dreiss) and Edith (Skudera). 

A dedicated and grateful family man, Jim is survived by Barbara (Casablanca), his wife of 65 years, and his sons James (and wife Celeste), John (and wife Heather) and Robert (and wife Jennifer). He was the proud grandfather of Jake (and wife Allison), Olivia, Jack, Grayson, Jordan, Alexis, Ryan, Ryan, Iain, and William. 

Jim proudly served in the National Guard Seventh Regiment New York, New York. He was retired from Browne Business Communications.  

He devoted his life to his family. As a coach, volunteer, and number one fan, he supported his kids and grandkids every pursuit in athletics, academics, and the arts.  He loved his dogs and every dog he ever met and it was a mutual love. 

Visiting hours are Friday, January 10, 2025 from 4 to 7 pm at Pizzi Funeral Home, 120 Paris Avenue, Northvale NJ. Burial service will be private.

Annamae Dee Fleming

Dee Fleming, 90, of Northvale, NJ, passed away peacefully on December 25, 2024, after a prolonged illness, surrounded by her loving family.

Born in Union City, NJ, in 1934 to Annamae and Louis DeFrances, Dee grew up in Leonia, NJ, where she graduated from Leonia High School and served as the marching band’s drum majorette. She married her high school sweetheart Ronald D. Fleming, who predeceased her in 2009. Dee spent much of her life in Northvale, NJ, before moving to Hamburg, NJ.

A devoted mother, Dee is survived by her children: Ronald Fleming (Marina), Scott Fleming (Debbie), and Valerie Fleming-Wilkins (John). She was the proud grandmother of Tara, Sean, Ronnie, Allison, Scott, Paige, and Tommy and the loving great-grandmother of seven. Dee was preceded in death by her brother, Louis DeFrances.

Dee’s outgoing and cheerful nature endeared her to everyone she met. She cherished her family and friends, especially her lifelong friendships with her high school classmates. Throughout her life, Dee worked for NJ Bell Telephone, Handy & Harmon, and the borough of Alpine, NJ.

She found great joy in traveling, trailering, tennis, ping pong, and spending time by the ocean, but her greatest happiness came from being with her family.

Dee will be deeply missed and fondly remembered by all who knew her.

Melissa Monika Klemer

Melissa Monika Klemer, 42, of Teaneck, NJ, passed away peacefully in her sleep on Tuesday, December 31, 2024.

Born in Germany, Melissa immigrated to the United States of America at 5 years old with her mom. Here, her parents were married and started their life together in Teaneck, NJ, eventually buying their first family home in Bergenfield, NJ, where they continued to raise their three children. Melissa had many passions in her young life; one of them being helping others to love themselves more, which she showed through her many years of dedication to her profession as a cosmetologist. Melissa married Greg Klemer, to whom she always remained close with.

She was very involved in the life of her first and only born niece, Leila, who adored her and nicknamed her “Chica”. Just a year later, Melissa was blessed to become a mother to her daughter Isabella, who she loved more than life itself.

Cherished daughter of Robert Connors (wife Maria); Loving sister of Shannon Connors-Gregson (husband Dalton); and loving sister of Jessica Connors. Precious granddaughter of Rose and James Ewings.

Melissa was predeceased by her beloved Mother Karin Connors; Grandparents Walter and Elizabeth Rosemeier; Great-Grandfather to Charles”Pop” Forker and beloved niece to Michael A. Casenta, Monika Ranum, Dagmar Knight, Elfriede Carlson, Karl and Waldemar Rosemeier.

The last several years, Melissa worked at Rony’s Rockin Grill of Bergenfield, NJ for Rony Alvarado. Not only was he her employer, he was the best friend that anyone could have ever asked for.

Melissa was the beloved niece of Roswitha Hagin, Ursula Wolf, Karola Hofmann, and Colleen Connors-Casenta; Uncles Hannes and Klaus Rosemeier and survived by many cousins.

Melissa, you are now a Child of God. He has chosen you to come back Home, to Rest in Eternal Love and Peace. We have always Loved you, today and always. Until we meet again . . . .

Ann Marie Millar

Ann Marie Millar died peacefully on January 2, 2025. Ann was raised in Fremont Ohio by her parents Earl and Rosemary Scheuer along with her older brother Lowell and her sister Rita. She graduated from St Joseph High School and went on to Bowling Green University where she met her future husband James J. Millar, from Englewood, New Jersey. Ann and Jim enjoyed a loving marriage of 62 years. Together, they raised four children, were blessed with seven grandchildren and this past October, Ann was overjoyed to welcome her first great-grandchild.

Ann and Jim were members of Our Lady of Victories in Harrington Park New Jersey where Ann served on the first parish council and also was a Eucharistic minister. In Stuart Florida where they had a second home, they were members of St Joseph Parish. Ann was a member of Hackensack golf club in Oradell New Jersey and Sailfish Point Golf Club in Stuart Florida where she enjoyed playing golf and bridge with her many friends. She loved flower arranging, gardening, bicycling, travelling and had the gift of bringing beauty and joy to every space she entered. Most of all, Ann cherished time spent with Jim, her four children, seven grandchildren and great grandson.

Ann is survived by her children Cathy Harding and husband Justin of Southport North Carolina, Lowell Millar and wife Jennifer of Summit New Jersey, Patricia Millar of Portland Oregon and Susan Antonelli and husband Mario of Oradell New Jersey. Adored grandmother of Cathy, Jessica, Nicole, Carlo, LJ, Chase, William and CJ.

A funeral mass will be held at Monday, Jan 6, 2025 at Our Lady of Victories in Harrington Park New Jersey at 10:00 a.m. after a gathering at 9:00 a.m. in the church vestibule, with an interment to follow at Mount Carmel Mount Cemetery, Tenafly New Jersey.

John Capodice

John Capodice, 83, of Blauvelt, NY, formerly of Los Angeles, CA and Chicago, IL, passed away on Monday, December 30, 2024. Beloved husband of Jane (nee Crawley). Cherished father of Tessa De Pierro and her husband Joseph and Cassandra Hansen and her husband Dave. Proud grandfather of David, Jake, Frankie and Giuliana. Dear brother of Kathy Magluilo and Patti Lindsay.

John was a US Army Veteran from 1964 to 1966 serving in Korea.  John appeared on stage, television and in many films. He was an accomplished actor known for his appearances in Ace VenturaWall Street, SeinfeldEllen to name just a few.  He was also a proud member of the Blauvelt Sons of Italy Rockland Lodge 2176.

John was a devoted husband, father and grandfather and will be missed by all who had the pleasure to meet him.

Mark Anthony Plescia, Sr., 74, of Old Tappan, NJ, formerly of Norwood, NJ, passed away at home surrounded by the love of his family on Tuesday, December 31, 2024. He was the beloved husband of Laura (nee Ciccarelli). Devoted father of Mark Anthony (Sharon), Daniel (Nicole), Wendi Heffernan (Jimmy), Michael (Ashley), David (Christie), Tristan and Eden. A hard-working, honest and giving man with incredible faith, Mark proudly owned and operated Plescia Roofing. His family meant everything to him. He was the guy who answered the phone, “What do you need? Where and when? I’m there for you anytime, day or night.”  He was a huge supporter of Saint Joseph Regional High School and was inducted in its Hall of Fame He will be forever remembered for his generosity and quick smile.

Joseph P. Pallatta, 82, of Old Tappan, NJ, formerly of Bergenfield, NJ, passed away on Sunday, December 29, 2024. Beloved husband of 60 years to Maureen (nee Nixon). Cherished father of Michael and his wife Theresa and his dear departed son, Joey. Adored grandfather of Shannon and Brendan. Joe was a graduate of Bergenfield High School and was captain of the State Champion Football Team. Always hard-working, he was a General Manager for DeMartini Chevrolet in Cliffside Park for 30 years and then McGuire Chevrolet in North Bergen. He recently retired from his own business, J. Pallatta Leasing Company. He was a member of Sons of Italy Rockland Lodge 2176 in Blauvelt, NY.

John Stephen Kowalchuk

John Stephen Kowalchuk, 82, of Henderson, Nevada, formerly Palisades Park, NJ, passed away on Wednesday, December 18, 2024. Beloved husband of 58 years to Diane Susan Kowalchuk. Loving father of Douglas J. Kowalchuk and his wife Bernadette, and Jeffrey C. Kowalchuk. Cherished grandfather of Christopher, Matthew, Danielle, Kaitlyn and Kelli.

John graduated from Farmingdale State College in NY and became an accomplished Chemist where he worked for Lever Brothers for over 40 years.  During that time, he created 2 utility patents.  He was also very active in the Cub Scouts and Little League baseball while his sons were growing up.  After retirement, he and Diane moved to Henderson, NV.  He enjoyed time with family and friends, and loved music, his dogs, the casino, and playing games.
