June 5, 1953 – January 13, 2026
John T. Fenton, aged 72, passed away suddenly on January 13, 2026, at Waimea Queens Hospital on the Big Island of Hawaii. John was born to Camilla A. Fenton and Thomas F. Fenton. He is survived by the love of his life Frances Terraciano Fenton and his two beloved daughters, Katelyn and Sarah, as well as his 5 siblings and their spouses Thomas F and Victoria (Davenport), Eugene (deceased), Patrick J and Carolyn (Guzik), Joseph T, Maryellen and Keith Wiles and many nieces and nephews who loved him dearly.
John graduated with his Bachelor of Arts Degree from Franciscan University of Steubenville, followed by his Masters Degree in Finance from Long Island University. He started his Financial career at Clifton Savings & Loan. In 1987, John joined Synergy as their CEO for 8 years which led to his tenure at Affinity Federal Credit Union where he served as CEO for 27 years as well as Board Chair of the Affinity Foundation. John was a hard working man, he took pride in his work and showed an infinite amount of passion with anything and everything he did. Those in John’s professional life knew him to lead with a person-first mentality, humility, thoughtfulness, compassion, and patience.
John was a family oriented man, he was a loving and devoted husband, father, brother and friend. John enjoyed playing guitar, listening to music, playing cards, joining his brothers and friends on camping trips, golfing, traveling, playing with our family dog Milo and of course, spending time on the Big Island of Hawaii. John’s life was full of love, happiness, and adventure, he embraced every day and his absence leaves a lasting impression on all those that knew him.

John was a class act. He was devoted to my cousin Franny and their 2 daughters. Will always remember his laughter and smile. Cannot believe he is gone but know that his memory will live on in our hearts. May the memories of happier times and the love they shared bring his family comfort and May those memories fill their hearts with light and love.

All of our love and prayers are with Fran, Sarah, and Katelyn.
John was instrumental in supporting my career by becoming one of our first clients at Black Coral.
And almost immediately after meeting, John and Fran became very close friends.
We will miss you dearly, John.
Maryellen and Kieth, I’m so sorry you have my deepest condolences the rest in peace in gods, eternal peace
In the September of 2021 I was offered the opportunity to work on flood recovery around Manville, NJ (Hurricane Ida impacts). Fran and John offered to put me up at their house which saved me sleeping on communal quarters with other responders. Best of all it allowed me to reconnect with my cousin in a wonderful way. I was blessed to spend this time with them and to hear about their beautiful daughters Katelyn and Sarah. Seeing the love that he and Fran shared and how much they were enjoying their retirement was heartwarming. John helped me learn so much of the history of the beautiful area where they live – which is always something I appreciate. We talked of family, other cousins and of course compared notes about our lives living on tropical islands. I fell in love with Milo (who wouldn’t) and am so thankful for having both he and Fran to reach out to over the past several years. Rest in Peace John – I will remember you with love and deep appreciation for all of your many kind acts.
I’m so very sorry for your loss. Bill and I send our deepest sympathy to you and your family.
I knew John as a man of ethics and friendship. As President/CEO of a federal credit union he extended a helping hand to another FCU (I was Board Chairman at the time) that needed administrative support to survive a BOD takeover by hostile directors. His help made the difference; the takeover effort failed.
John was a quintessential professional, and a gentleman true to his word.
Today I grieve the loss of a friend of more than forty years. I believe God places certain people in our lives as gifts, and John’s friendship was one of those gifts to me. I will always be grateful for the life we shared through music, camping weekends, football games, and so many great times spent together. My heart is heavy, but I carry deep gratitude for all the years we were given.
My thoughts are with you and your family at this time.
My condolences to John’s family and all who knew him. John will always be remembered as a humanitarian, accomplished leader and person who truly cared about each and every person he encountered. I thank him for his friendship and support over the years. John will be missed and always fondly remembered. He made an indelible, positive mark on our lives.
He always spoke highly of you Todd

John served selflessly on the Saint Peter’s Health Care System Investment and Retirement committees. His wisdom, good humor and concern for others shone through. E hoʻomaha me ka maluhia, John.
