Dear Jeanette ,Michael,Steven,Richard and family,
I clearly recall the first day I met Ed in December of 1971. Archer Elevator was a fairly new company and I was a navy veteran just discharged. Ed and I had a meeting ,as he had an opening for a helper and I was hired. Over the next ten years working together, we always had a great relationship. We were friends and it was easy to be a friend of Ed and his family.
I remember the times we went duck hunting on freezing mornings and went fishing on Mongaup Pond. We must have caught a hundred perch with the boys one day. We even grilled some on an open fire with no utensils. Ed took the rest home and was up half the night cleaning fish.
On December 25, 1976 my son Michael was the first born in NYC, we were front page of the News. The Bonardi family was the first to call and congratulate.
I have many memories of Ed but ,a few things stand out . He was a,” Peace Maker”, and he was always ,and I mean always, a ,”Gentlemen”.
With fond memories,
Brian J. McGinnis and family
I started working for Ed’s Company, Archer Elevator in 1972 in his Motor Shop. Soon after I went into the field. Archer was a great Company to work for. Ed was always very fair and believed in his men. After I left Archer, I had a personal issue and Ed stepped in and helped me. I will never forget his kindness.

We are very sorry to hear of your loss and extend sincere condolences. May you find comfort in knowing that God cares deeply for us when we are grieved by the loss of a loved one and he has promised to be close to us when sorrow breaks our hearts (Psalms34:18). We can be ever confident that He will continue to sustain us during times of sadness and fulfill the promised hope of an end to tears and death with reuniting peace in the near future (Revelation 21:3-4).
Goodbye my friend for over 50 years. My condolences to your family
We were very sorry to hear of the loss of Edward. We didn’t know him that well, but Joey remembers him from the elevator golf tournaments and also said he was an avid hunter. That’s why he named his company Archer because Joey says he used to hunt with a bow and arrow. I couldn’t believe it.
He and your mom were such nice people. We miss them. We send you our deepest sympathy regarding your dad. I wish your whole family moved home, Michael.
Love,
Joey and Judy Sommese
Eddie Bonardi was a friendly, familiar face in our neighborhood. He always had time to help out when you were in a pinch and had a quick smile, wave and hello. Janette and he have been wonderful neighbors in the 26 1/2 years I’ve lived in Orangeburg; watching their extended family grow was a joy to him.
The memory of Mr. Bonardi will be a blessing to many. He fought the good fight against the impossible foe of illness with as much grace as he could muster. Eddie is now in the arms of the Blessed Mother and Christ his Savior, along with all of his friends and family that preceded him. Well done, good and faithful servant! My prayers are with the extended Bonardi family in their grief and loss. May they be comforted by the Spirit and the knowledge that they had the rare gift of knowing a ‘one of a kind’.
When I look at Eddie’s picture it brings up such warm, loving feelings. He truly was one of the good guys !
Eddie and my Dad were Great friends. They laughed, cried, worked, ate and played a lot of Golf together.
When I was new in the industry, I remember going to Elevator industry functions, Eddie would tell me who the good guys were and who to watch out for. He was honest, helpful, caring, like a 2nd father to me in those early years.
Jeanette; I know how hard the past few years were for you, as they were for your friend, Etta, My Mom. Think of all the good times and your wonderful Family. This will help you through the years ahead.
Condolences and Love to you and your Family.
I will miss him – he was and will remain in my heart and thoughts forever.
