Charles S. “Chip” Piehler

Charles S. “Chip” Piehler, 57, of Northvale, passed away suddenly on Sunday, May 30, 2021. Beloved husband of Michele (nee Urgo). Proud and cherished father of Samantha, Jennifer and Brianna. Loving son of Marian and the late Stanley Piehler. Dearest brother of Christopher, Jeanine Piehler-Sweeney and Ed and his wife Lisa.  Loving son-in-law of Joan and the late Rocco Urgo and brother-in-law of Donna Urgo-Matthews. Adored uncle of Amber, Heather, Ryan, Shawn, Madison and Ben.

Chip was a devoted and loving husband, father, son, brother and friend, always the first to lend a hand. He was a production maintenance manager for Chartwell Pharmaceuticals in Congers, NY. Chip was a member of the Northvale Volunteer Ambulance Corps and belonged to the Rifle Club. He will be dearly missed by all who knew him.

Visiting hours are Thursday 4-8 PM at Pizzi Funeral Home, 120 Paris Ave, Northvale. A Funeral Mass will be celebrated Friday at 11 AM at St. Anthony’s Church, Northvale with interment to follow at Tappan Cemetery, Tappan, NY.

We are devasted and heartbroken by the loss of Chip. He was loved by all who knew him. He was a selfless, kindhearted, gentle soul who went above and beyond to help anyone in need. He loved nothing more than his family. His wife and his girls were his world. He would do anything he could for those he loved. He had many friends who became family and cherished all the memories he made with anyone who crossed his path. Chip was a fun, loving man who enjoyed sharing stories; he was an excellent storyteller. A true handyman and outdoorsman, he enjoyed his weekends upstate in “his own little paradise”, with his four-legged sidekick Buddy. He will have a lasting impact on those who knew him and will be deeply missed by all.

We love you

Michele, Samantha, Jennifer & Brianna

    Dear Michelle,

I was shocked when Vincent called me with this tragic news. I know you are a strong woman like those before you, Millie, Mary, Dolly, Lucy, Dolores and Theresa. An unexpected death and at a young age is very difficult for those left behind. In seeing the love and devotion you and your family have shown your late father Rocky I have no doubt Chip will receive no less from his wife and children. I am so sorry that I can not make it up to Northvale on Thursday but I have been and will continue to think of you and your girls. Life is for the living and you and your daughters have a lot of living ahead. We will all be together someday but we are here now and we have to enjoy this life.

  2. Michele, Samantha, Jennifer, Brianna, and the entire Piehler family my most heart felt condolences and prayers for you all as we try to cope with this.
To my Best Man Stan, Our lives have been quite shattered by your early departure from this side.
I know I will miss you always and forever until we meet again on the flip side.
    Love, your friend always, Udo

He truly was one of the “good” ones. He loved his family wholeheartedly and his friends and his dog. My only peace of mind is that he is back with his father and Buddy. Michele and his girls – I am so sorry for your loss. For all of our loss. And Marian, I am so sorry that your have to grieve a child. I am praying for you all daily. Life is just not fair.

  6. Michele, Marian and Family, Words cannot express how deeply sorry I am for your loss. Chip was literally my first school pal at the age of 5. Although we lost touch after I moved out of Northvale, Chip would always take the time to ask about me whenever he ran into my Mom around town. Years later when I returned to Northvale under less than ideal circumstances, it wasn’t but a few days until I ran into Chip. He greeted me with a hardy handshake and a big hug and was quick to offer up his friendship in case there was anything I ever needed. His warm welcome home and reassuring words helped me to realize everything would be alright and since then, we’d occasionally check in to talk about trout fishing, upstate life and a whole host of things. Marian, you need to know that’s the kind of Man you raised. Michele and Girls, I want you to know that’s the kind of Husband and Father you had…. Chris, Jeanine, Eddie, we all considered Chip our Brother too…. A kind, caring, generous and 100% genuine person who never forgot his friends. That’s how I will always remember him. RIP Old Friend. You will be sorely missed….

Michelle, Sam, Jen, Brianna and to the Piehler family, words fall short of expressing my sorrow for your loss. May you be comforted by the outpouring of love surrounding you at this time.
To my dear friend Chip, there are some who bring a light so great to the world, that even after they have gone, the light remains. Thanks for always being there.
With love, Pat – your friend from the other side of the Catskills.

Dearest Michelle and family – although it has been many years since your family attended Northvale Preschool where I was one of their teachers I always remembered what a loving family you had and what a pleasure it was to get to know you. I am so sorry to hear of the passing of your husband. I too know what you are going through unfortunately due to my husbands death at a very young age. My thoughts and prayers are with you as you travel down this road for which there are no words. Although I did not know your husband from all that has been written he must have been a person who was loved and admired. Please know you are in my prayers and thoughts during this difficult time
