
James A. Scaringe, 94, of Orangeburg, NY, passed away on Monday, August 9, 2021. Beloved husband of 69 years to Mary (nee Pensiero). Proud father of four sons, James and wife Mary, John and wife Christine, Jerrold, and the late Joseph. Cherished grandfather of Danielle and Gabriella. Dearest brother of Carl, Uncle and cousin to dozens of loving nieces, nephews and cousins.
Jim was a US Navy Veteran of WWII enlisting as a 17 year old in 1944. He retired from the NYPD as a Detective Sergeant after 26 years of decorated service. He then served as an Assistant Chief Investigator for the State District Attorney’s Office for another 14 years. He was a devoted parishioner and usher at St. Catharine’s Church in Blauvelt, NY and was a member of the Sons of Italy, Rockland Lodge 2176, Blauvelt. He will also be remembered by many in the community for his involvement with the Orangetown “Mighty Midget” Youth Football Organization, where he was known as “Coach Scaringe” for over 22 years.
Due to the current health crisis, funeral arrangements are private but a memorial to properly honor Jim is planned at a later date.
