Grace J. Calegari, 90, of Norwood, NJ formerly of Northvale, NJ passed away October 20, 2025 surrounded by her loving family.

            Born on October 28, 1934, in Englewood, NJ, she was the daughter of Louis J. and Antoinette (née Ruffino) Rasera. Prior to retirement, she had worked as a purchasing agent at National Medical Care for many years.

            Grace’s greatest achievement was raising her three children; her greatest joy came from her grandchildren and spending time together as a family. She shared a love of cooking with her family, making her Italian-American classics for family dinners, baking her Christmas cookies, and pancakes after sleepovers with her beloved grandchildren.  She also loved going out to lunch with her dear friends (La Fontanella’s was a favorite lunch spot).  Grace kept her mind sharp with crossword puzzles, trivia, and solitaire.  Television was a favored pastime; she was an avid fan of the Lifetime Channel and had a special place in her heart for Yellowstone—especially Kevin Costner, while also having a love for Anderson Cooper. Grace loved watching Dancing with the Stars with her grandchildren. 

            She was predeceased by her husband, Peter C. Calegari, Sr in 1999. She is survived by her brother, Lou Rasera and wife Joann of West Hills, CA; her daughter, Laura Gangwer and husband Sam of Bedford, NH; her sons, Peter Calegari and wife Karen of Gilbert, AZ, and Louis Calegari and wife Suzanne of Tappan, NY; and her grandchildren, Marisa, Jake, Ali, Danni, Olivia, Christopher and Jaden who brought her endless joy.  Also, her niece Alisa Rasera-Holden and husband Wally Holden, grand-nieces Iris and Viola, and nephew Tommy Rasera.

Visiting hours are Sunday, October 26, 2025 from 2-5 PM at Pizzi Funeral Home, 120 Paris Ave, Northvale. A Funeral Mass will be celebrated on Monday, October 27, 2025 at 10:00 AM at St. Anthony’s Church, Northvale, NJ.

Rosanne Stella (nee Nastasia), 72, of Old Tappan, New Jersey, passed away surrounded by the love of her family on Sunday, October 19, 2025.

Rosanne was the beloved wife of Anthony Stella, and the devoted mother of Danielle Rizzo (Anthony), and Anthony Stella. She was the cherished Nana of Anthony, Giana, and Angelo, who were truly the center of her world. She is also survived by her loving sister Jeanette Giacalone, her brother Thomas Nastasia (Theresa), brother and sister in law Carmine and Mary Stella and many dear nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.

Rosanne was a true light in every room she entered — a modern-day Lucille Ball known for her humor, warmth, and ability to make everyone around her smile. She lived life with joy, generosity, and a heart full of compassion. Always giving of herself, she volunteered her time at New Hope Pregnancy Resource Center and Rockleigh Psychiatric Center, dedicating her energy to helping those in need.

Rosanne loved her work especially the last few years of her life as a teacher’s aide in Harrington Park public school and the many friendships she built along the way. Her colleagues quickly became like family, and her caring spirit left a lasting impact wherever she went.

Above all, Rosanne was devoted to her family. Her grandchildren were her pride and joy, and she never missed a chance to share a laugh, a meal, or a hug. 

Rosanne’s memory will forever live on in the hearts of those who were blessed to know her.

John “Jack” Francis Killian, 91, of Blauvelt, New York, and Pallasgreen, County Limerick, IRELAND, passed away, peacefully, at his home, surrounded by his loving family, on Friday, October 17, 2025. 

Jack Killian was born in Clonberla, Killashee, County Longford, IRELAND, on August 13, 1934, to Thomas Killian and Annie O’Carroll. Before entering the Irish Police Service, An Garda Siochana, in 1955, Jack worked for Bord na Mona, a semi-state Irish company originally created to mechanize the harvesting of bog peat for national energy use. Once commissioned as a police officer, Jack was stationed in Blackrock, County Dublin. In 1958, he decided to emigrate, following his elder brother Eamonn “Ray” to New York. Once there, he considered several career paths, finally joining MABSTOA, a subsidiary of the MTA that operates bus service in Manhattan and the Bronx, working as a dispatcher. After retiring from MABSTOA, in 1985, Jack and his family moved to Ireland for several years. Upon returning to New York, he joined New York State, working at RPC as an electrician, for 13 years. His retirement from there was followed by a stint working for Peter Brega, with him eventually retiring from Clarkstown Mini Trans, in 2016.

Jack is survived by his loving family, his wife Johanna (nee Ryan) “Josephine,” daughters Christine and Monica, granddaughters Sophie and Ava, Monica’s fiance, Martin Whitmore, sisters, Una(Coughlan) and Margaret (Casey), 22 Killian nieces and nephews, countless cousins, sisters-in-law May Killian, Rita Killian, Victoria Killian, Mary Weatherhead, Catherine O’Grady, Bernie O’Dwyer, numerous Ryan family members and many, many friends. He was predeceased by his parents Thomas and Annie, brothers Thomas, PJ, Eamonn, Willie and Jerry and sisters Betty and Rose.

Visiting hours are Tuesday, October 21, from 5pm-8pm at Pizzi Funeral Home, 120 Paris Avenue, Northvale, New Jersey. A mass of Christian burial will be celebrated at Saint Catherine’s RC Church, 523 Western Highway South, Blauvelt, New York on Wednesday, October 22, at 10:30am.

Antonio Veltri, 93, of Norwood NJ, passed away peacefully on October 15, 2025, surrounded by his loving family. Beloved husband of Rosina Veltri (nee Osso), loving father of Susan Veltri and adored grandfather of Cassandra Lobo. Beloved son of the late Teresa Porco and late Michele Veltri. Dear brother of the late Salvatore and Giuseppe Veltri. Also survived by many brother and sister in laws, nieces and nephews, and dear friends.

Antonio was born in Belmonte Calabro, a province of Cosenza, Italy, on September 25, 1932. He spent much of his childhood growing up in Belmonte and at the age of 16, he immigrated to Buenos Aires, Argentina where he began his adulthood. He happily married his wife, Rosina, in Argentina, in December of 1960. Together, they immigrated to the United States where they started a family. Antonio worked in construction for 40 years in New York City, he was deeply passionate for his work and his honor. 

Antonio’s greatest achievements in life were raising a beautiful family and his home and land in Italy. Year after year, he brought his family to Belmonte, to the home he was so proud to call his. Antonio loved walking the land, picking fresh figs and prunes, and making his daily espresso with cookies every afternoon. To know him was to love him. Antonio always carried himself with dignity and honor. He was greatly cherished by his whole family, especially his wife, daughter, and granddaughter, and will be missed dearly.

Luke Anthony Gervase, 88, a 60-year resident of Closter, NJ, passed away on Wednesday, October 15, 2025. Beloved husband of Virginia (née Marino) for nearly 65 years. Cherished father of Laura Bonanno and her husband Christopher of Dumont, NJ, Ronald Gervase of Springfield, NJ, Richard Gervase and his husband Stuart Delery of Washington, DC, and Luke Gervase and his wife Alexandra of Warwick, NY. Proud and dedicated grandfather of Marissa (Stephen Zurich), Brittany (Will Baker), Alicia (Cameron Pierce), Michael, Sebastian, Mia, Matthew, Anthony, and Ava, and great-grandfather of Hudson. Dear brother-in-law of Madeline Gervase and beloved uncle, great uncle, and cousin to many he loved. Predeceased by his parents, Arnold (Erasmo) and Mary Gervase, stepmother Mary Gervase, his brother, Angelo Gervase, and his sister, Rosemary “Candy” Del Rey.

Luke was born and raised on the Lower East Side of New York City. He was a proud alumnus of the Boys Club of New York. Luke was a United States Marine Corps veteran and served in the Marine Corps Reserves. He earned an Associate’s Degree in Food Technology from SUNY Morrisville and worked in the food industry for most of his career, including at Lever Brothers and Nabisco. He retired in 2010 as a Senior Research Technician from Reckitt Benckiser (French’s Food Division) in Montvale, NJ after 20 years of service. 

His greatest joy in life was watching his nine grandchildren progress from birth to college to careers and marriage. He worked hard to provide all his grandchildren of driving age with their first car, each of which he selected with his lifetime knowledge and love of cars. He loved raising his family on Wainwright Court in Closter where he was proud that his children could take advantage of its school system and beautiful setting. He especially enjoyed holiday traditions with the extended family; his wife Virginia’s cooking; listening to Frank Sinatra albums; dancing with the family, especially the Lindy with his wife; taking good care of dozens of family members’cars over several decades; family vacations; and befriending everyone he met.

Leonard Anthony Capabianca Sr., 88, of Northvale, NJ, passed away peacefully surrounded by his loving children on Sunday, October 12, 2025, at 9:34 a.m. Born in Hackensack, he spent his entire life calling Northvale home — a town he helped shape through his work, his community involvement, and his endless devotion to family.

A true man of determination and dedication, Leonard’s life was marked by hard work and entrepreneurial spirit. In his early years, he was the owner and operator of a Gulf gas station and Paradise Lounge and Club. Over the years, he proudly poured his energy into a wide variety of ventures, including Yoohoo Beverage, Congruent Machinery Company, Rockleigh Golf Course and Pro Shop, Hackensack Courthouse Food Concession, The Colosseum/Leonardo’s, Nick’s Northvale Ravioli & Deli, Beverage Bar, Blue Hill Mansion Restaurant, and Harbor Lights.

Leonard also dedicated many years to public service as a Northvale Councilman and later as a Bergen County Security Guard, roles in which his integrity, reliability, and sense of community shone through. Beyond work and civic service, Leonard gave back to the town he loved by coaching Northvale baseball for many years — sharing his time, patience, and love of the game with countless young players who will remember him not just as a coach, but as a mentor and friend.

Leonard was the devoted husband of the late Carol Ann Capabianca, with whom he shared decades of love, laughter, and partnership. Together, they created a home filled with warmth, tradition, and the kind of love that lasts a lifetime.

He is survived by his children: Leonard Jr. and Linda Capabianca, Toni and Steven Sr. Macchio, Dean and Cheryl Capabianca, and Loretta and Richard Esola. His loving legacy continues through his grandchildren: Erica; Dean Jr. and Anthony; Steven Jr.; Sabrina; Toni; Jennifer; Jesse; Shane; and Matthew. His great-grandchildren — Aria, Elliana, Beau, Wyatt, Madelyn, Bodhi, and Eli — brought him endless pride and joy. Leonard also leaves behind many nieces, nephews, and lifelong friends who will never forget his generosity, humor, and steady presence.

Leonard’s life was built around family, faith, and community. He found his greatest joy in simple moments — Sunday dinners, family stories, and the laughter that filled his home. He was a man of quiet strength and deep love whose influence will continue to ripple through generations.

Constantine “Kosta” Andreopoulos, 97, of Northvale, NJ, passed away peacefully at home on Monday, October 6, 2025. Beloved husband of Eleftheria (nee Ramantani). Loving father of Theodora and her husband Dimitri and Nicholas and his wife Thalia. Adored grandfather of Irene, Alex, Thomai and Dean. Dear brother of Georgia Sotiropoulos and the late Maria Hatzgiathanasiou.

Kosta was born in Proussos, Evrytania, Greece and grew up in Athens. He lived in Canada for approximately 10 years and in the United States for 59 years. He owned and operated Costa’s Shoe Repair in Northvale for 25 years before retiring. He was very proud of his Greek heritage, loved rembetiki music especially by Tsitsanis, loved to walk around Athens and visit the stores he remembered as a young man, and, most of all, loved playing the accordion.  He also enjoyed watching educational documentaries regarding history, nature and the universe.

Kosta shared many stories of his life and his experiences emigrating to Montreal and then the New York City area. He held many different types of jobs when he was living in Montreal but returned to his trade of being a shoemaker when he opened up his store in Northvale. He was a hard worker and made the most of the opportunities that came his way.  Kosta was cherished by his family, especially his grandchildren, and will be missed very much.

Visitation will be at St. John’s Greek Orthodox Cathedral, 353 E. Clinton Ave, Tenafly, NJ on Friday, October 10, 2025 from 10-11 AM with a funeral service to be held at 11 AM. Internment will follow at Tappan Cemetery, Tappan, NY.

Carol A. Carini (nee Stelmaschuk), 83, of Harrington Park, NJ, passed away at home on Monday, October 6, 2025. Beloved wife of the late Dominic L. Carini for 55 years. Loving mother of Jason B. Carini of Hoboken, NJ and Carolanne Carini of Harrington Park, NJ. Cherished grandmother “gaga” of Jonathan Dominic Carini.

Carol was a Registered Nurse and worked many years at New York Hospital, Memorial Sloan Kettering, Clearview Nursing Home and Local 144. A devoted wife, mother and grandmother, she was a devoted parishioner of Our Lady of Victories RC Church.

Virginia “Ginny” Marie Misa (nee Birnie), 61, of Harrington Park, NJ, passed away on Saturday, October 4, 2025. Beloved wife of Steven Misa. Loving mother of Sean, Christopher and Garrett. Caring sister of John Birnie and wife Kristine, and Kathy Ruiz and husband Richard. Proud aunt of Gabrielle, Nicholas and John. She is also survived by many other loving friends and relatives. She was predeceased by her parents John and Irene Birnie.

Virginia received her undergraduate degree from NJIT in Mechanical Engineering. She would go on to then receive a Juris Doctor degree from St. John’s University, as well as a Master’s degree in Special Education from Seton Hall. She passed the Bar in New Jersey, New York and Washington DC, all on the first attempt. She began her career as an Engineer at Singer Kearfott Corporation, where she met her husband, Steve. From there she would begin her career as an Attorney, working for several firms in the area including Netchert Dineen & Hillmann Esqs. She would ultimately become an educator, working at various schools throughout Bergen County. Even with all of these degrees, she considered her greatest accomplishment raising her three sons who were her pride and joy. Ginny also loved her dogs over the years: Barney, Duffy, Bill, Daisy, Rupert, Gaston and Petey. She got Barney certified as therapy dog with Therapy Dogs International, and took him to schools for children with special needs, and various Nursing Homes in the area to provide comfort.

Arlene Theresa Jahoda (nee Andreoni), 90, of Milford, PA, formerly of Northvale, NJ, passed away at home on Saturday, September 27, 2025. Arlene was predeceased by her beloved husband Rudy, her son Darryl, daughter Sherry Lynn and sister Lorraine Wilks. She was the loving mother of Bruce and his wife Jeanne, Randy and his wife Laurie and step-daughter Lucille. Proud grandmother of Anthony, David, Amber, Nicole, Samantha and Dylan and great-grandmother of Madeline, Braxton, Avery, Kai, Jaxon and Isla. Also survived by many cherished nieces and nephews and many very close friends.

Arlene was a devoted wife, mother and grandmother. She was a Northvale Crossing Guard for many years and previously had worked at Nassau Lens, Northvale. She will be remembered by all who knew for her vivacious and bold personality.

A graveside service will be held at Tappan Cemetery on Monday, October 13, 2025 at 11 AM.
