Margaret A. Fazzone (nee Parisi) 72, of Cresskill, NJ, formerly of Little Italy in NYC, where she was born and raised, passed away at home on Sunday, August 15, 2021.  Beloved wife of the late James J. Fazzone. Loving mother/grandmother and so proud of her children and grandchildren: Roni Fazzone, Bobbie Pennisi; Samantha, Stephanie, and Domenick Pennisi. Cherished daughter of Robert Parisi and the late Stella Parisi.

1935-2021

Born on June 24^th, 1935 in Hackensack, New Jersey, Dave has been a lifelong resident of the state, growing up in Bogota and a resident of Old Tappan since 1974.  He passed away on August 12^th, 2021 at the age of 86.  He is predeceased by his parents Harry Pinckney and Sarah Cortelyou (Overbaugh) Northrop as well as his first wife Arden Ruth (Svenson) Northrop.  He is survived by his loving wife of 49 years, Marlene Ann Northrop, his daughter Melissa Arden Keiser and her husband Richard H. Keiser of Alexandria, VA and his daughter Dr. Jennifer A. Northrop and her husband Dr. John Delmonte Jr. of Saratoga Springs, NY as well as three granddaughters Amanda Keiser, Alessandra Delmonte and Avery Delmonte.

David attended Stevens Institute of Technology in Hoboken, where he received an undergraduate degree in mechanical engineering and a master’s degree in computer science.  Dave was fortunate to enjoy a long and successful career in the field of computers and information technology.  He initially worked at Fairchild Industries and then became the Director of the Computer Science Department at Fairleigh Dickinson University where he also served as an instructor.  Dave then worked for over 30 years in New York City as the Director of Information Technology at Hachette Filipacchi Media from where he retired in 2005.

Dave served in the United States Naval Reserves for 8 years as a radio specialist.  This was ideal for Dave, combining his passion for science and technology with his love of boats and the water.

Dave always enjoyed music immensely and played piano from age 5 onwards.  He was exceptionally talented and able to play by ear for hours without music in front of him. He played piano for a ballet school to earn money during his college years.  He also filled in at church on the organ and piano over the years and enjoyed playing at many social events.  Dave and Marlene enjoyed attending performances of the New York City Ballet, having been season ticket holders for over 50 years.

Dave was a parishioner at Trinity Reformed Church in Old Tappan since 1974, having been a member of the choir and serving on the Consistory as Deacon, later as an Elder and eventually as the President.

Dave was also very active as an Old Tappan resident.  He joined the Board of Health and the Senior Advisory Board in 2006, becoming the chairman a year later.  He also joined the Golden Age Club and started to offer computer instruction to all interested.  He was instrumental in developing several new programs for the senior residents of Old Tappan which are still in existence today.

Freemasonry was a large part of Dave’s life starting in his late teenage years.  He initially joined the Falls City Masonic Lodge, No. 82 in Paterson, NJ where he was a past master.  Upon dissolution of that lodge, Dave joined Temple Lodge, No. 173 in Westwood.  Dave achieved the highest honor in Freemasonry as a 33^rd degree master mason, a supreme honor bestowed only on those who have demonstrated outstanding service to the Brotherhood, as well as professional and personal accomplishments.

Dave loved animals (he had many pets throughout his lifetime including turtles, birds, and dogs) and appreciated the outdoors and nature.  He enjoyed walking everywhere and while Dave was working in New York City, he set a goal for himself to walk every city block of Manhattan at least once (he kept a small pocket map of the borough with him and would check off each block as he walked it) which he did eventually achieve!  He was an avid reader and loved books about science, submarines, boats, codebreaking, medicine and spy mysteries.  Dave also loved to travel and was always interested in seeing new sights.

The family wishes to thank David’s longstanding physician Dr. Harry Fried, for his many years of thoughtful and outstanding care, as well as Dr. Harvey Gross and partners who provided exceptional care to Dave in the last two years while at The Jewish Home.  Additionally, special thanks to the Jewish Home facilities in Rockleigh and River Vale for their dedication and compassion to Dave and Marlene.

Concetta Barbara Jovino (nee Ambrosino), affectionately known as Connie and Tootsie, 87, of Blauvelt, NY, passed away at home surrounded by her loving family on Tuesday, August 10, 2021. Beloved wife of the late Sal (Dean Anthony) Jovino. Cherished mother of Louise Jovino and proud grandmother of Deanna and Teresa. In addition to her daughter and granddaughters she is survived by her sister-in-law Mary, nephews, Sal (Maura), Joseph (Steve), and Anthony (Maureen); nieces, Rosemarie (Lee) and Julie (Charlie), as well as many grand nieces and nephews, cousins, cherished friends and of course her dog, Benji.

Connie was a member of the Romanesque Lodge #2198, Blauvelt as well as the Catholic Daughters.  She was a phenomenal cook. She loved to entertain and make every on feel like family.

She was fortunate to have traveled the world learning about different customs and cultures but her favorite destination was Guatemala where she visited her now grandchildren.  They were truly her greatest joy.

A Funeral Mass will be celebrated Friday at 10 AM at St. Anthony’s RC Church, Northvale, NJ with interment to follow at Rockland Cemetery, Sparkill, NY.

Eric Santarlasci, 48, of Trinity, FL, formerly of The Bronx, passed away unexpectedly on Saturday, August 7, 2021. He is survived by his loving parents Joseph and Lorraine Santarlasci, his beautiful children Lorenzo, Giovana and Giuliana, their loving mother Christina and his sister Lauren. Also survived by his Godmother Marion DeSisto and Godfather Jack Mariani.
Eric was a project executive for JA Watts, Inc. where he will be sorely missed.

James A. Scaringe, 94, of Orangeburg, NY, passed away on Monday, August 9, 2021. Beloved husband of 69 years to Mary (nee Pensiero). Proud father of four sons, James and wife Mary, John and wife Christine, Jerrold, and the late Joseph. Cherished grandfather of Danielle and Gabriella. Dearest brother of Carl, Uncle and cousin to dozens of loving nieces, nephews and cousins. 

Jim was a US Navy Veteran of WWII enlisting as a 17 year old in 1944. He retired from the NYPD as a Detective Sergeant after 26 years of decorated service. He then served as an Assistant Chief Investigator for the State District Attorney’s Office for another 14 years. He was a devoted parishioner and usher at St. Catharine’s Church in Blauvelt, NY and was a member of the Sons of Italy, Rockland Lodge 2176, Blauvelt. He will also be remembered by many in the community for his involvement with the Orangetown “Mighty Midget” Youth Football Organization, where he was known as “Coach Scaringe” for over 22 years.

Due to the current health crisis, funeral arrangements are private but a memorial to properly honor Jim is planned at a later date.

Marie Farrell (nee LaCavalla), 84, of Northvale, NJ, formerly of Spring Valley, NY, passed away at home on Saturday, May 1, 2021. She was born on February 20, 1937 in Brooklyn, NY to Lilly LaCavalla (nee Ciulla) and Joseph S. LaCavalla.

Beloved wife of the late Thomas Patrick Farrell, Sr. To whom she was married for 50 wonderful years. Together they raised 3 children and 5 grandchildren.

Loving mother of Michael Farrell and wife Barbara of West Nyack, NY, Joseph Farrell and wife Janice of Scotch Plains, NJ and the late Thomas P. Farrell, Jr. She was a very proud grandmother of Hilary, Connor, Teresa, Emily and Maura, whom she loved dearly. Dearest sister of Prudie LaCavalla and the late Joseph LaCavalla and mother-in-law of Heather Farrell.

Marie retired from Mercedes-Benz in Montvale after 20 years of service, where she made lifelong friends. She was a devout parishioner of St. Anthony’s RC Church of Northvale, NJ and was also an active member of the Northvale Senior Center and The Golden Age Club.

Anna May Sprague, 88, formerly of West Creek, NJ and Keeseville, NY, passed from this world on August 8, 2021 at Bergen County Health Care Center, surrounded by the most caring and loving staff. Anna May was born May 2, 1933, the daughter of Morris Hanley Wilson and Marion Estelle (Caterall) Wilson at her parent’s home in Riverside, NJ. Anna May enjoyed socializing. She possessed a kind child-like heart, a pretty singing voice, and the most gorgeous hands. She often told her story of being offered a hand-modeling job in NYC, but her father thought her too young to embrace the opportunity. The story never got old, and it would be a joy to hear it once again.

Anna may was predeceased by her parents; a sister, Marion (Wilson) Pray and her husband Clifford; a brother, Maurice “Bud” Wilson and his wife Pauline, and a brother Charles Wilson. She is survived by her only daughter, Patricia Ann and her son-in-law, David Mendofik, Jr., three nephews, two nieces, and several great and great-great nieces and nephews.

Margaret J. Foley “Marge” (nee Stinson), 85 of Closter, passed away on Saturday, August 7, 2021. She was born in Philadelphia, PA. Beloved wife of 55 years to Brendan Foley. Devoted mother of Liam, Colm and wife Nicole, Siobhan Fulco and husband Anthony, Brendan Jr. and wife Jill, Breige Alexander and late husband Dan, Deirdre Ciampa and husband Chris, and Sean and wife Angelique. Proud grandmother of Lance, Lauren, Alexandra, Adriana, Ella, Peter and Maria. Dearest sister of Robert Stinson and his late wife Ruth and Donna Schmincke and late husband Frank.

Growing up in Philly, Marge enjoyed playing the organ at St. Anne’s Church and being with her extended family. The highlight of her childhood stories usually focused on summering in the country and enjoying all it had to offer. She was a proud supporter of the US military and emergency services, growing up in a family who loved and served our country, beginning with her great grandfather and has continued on through the generations. Love blossomed between her and Brendan soon after he arrived in the states, marrying a few years later. Marge loved to share stories with her family and friends, Brendan always listened even if he had heard them countless times before.

As time marched on Marge, knowing that music was central to their family life, began piano lessons and Irish step dancing classes for all her children. Marge knew this would occupy their time and grow their interest while Brendan played at local ceilis or ones they travelled to in the Catskills. Besides taking care of her large family, Marge’s love of quilting carried through with her children’s classmates. Through projects at Tenakill and St. Mary’s, the school children drew pictures which Marge then made into patchwork quilts to gift to their teachers. Marge was able to do all of this while enjoying her favorite sport – hockey (Go Devils!!!). Marge took great care to write her annual holiday letter to send to the masses around the world, celebrating her family’s adventures and accomplishments from the year.

As her children began to grow up, Marge immersed herself in a new found passion tracking and plotting the family history. Little did Brendan know how time consuming this endeavor would be. Marge loved every moment of reconnecting with family and building new relationships, at times this and her grandchildren were her favorite topics of conversation. The grandchildren held a special place in Marge’s heart and she really loved to nurture them just as she had with her own children. Marge loved spoiling her grandchildren never missing an opportunity to sit by the piano with them and tickle the ivories. Marge’s nurturing ways can be seen today in her grandchildren’s musical ear and artistic talents, her ability to see a picture or listen to a musical tune and then carry that thru to an instrument or canvas is something we will treasure always. 

Marge had been a parishioner of St. Mary’s RC Church in Closter for over 50 years, a member of the St. Mary’s prayer shawl ministry and a member of the Irish Center in Philadelphia for many years.

Millie Elsie D’Amico, 85, of Farmingdale, NJ, formerly of Closter, NJ, passed away on Wednesday, August 4, 2021. Millie was predeceased by her beloved husband Vincent D’Amico, her loving daughters, Jo Ann and Margaret Fauci and her dear daughter-in-law Carol. Millie was the manager of D’Amico Landscaping in Closter for many years. Prior to that she was an executive secretary for Sherwood Refining and Continental Oil Company.
